Xbox fan here, and no I wasn't called here either.

I think Xbox has had a couple of strong E3's. But this gen has been pretty piss poor. I suppose I can appreciate them only showing the next 12 months of games for there platform for transparency? But F me, give me something else to look forward to besides Starfield...
Hell I would have been happy to see a demo if Halo Infinite's forge, from what I have seen its a pretty amazing evolution.
the 12 months thing was factually damage control and marketing speak. they have nothing concrete in development - I can guarantee you that. They've been doing this for the better part of a decade now. The CGI make belief trailers just wouldn't have fooled anyone this year.

proof: Kojima showed up with literally an idea. an IDEA. not even concept art.

is his game launching in 12 months?

I'm also convinced they can afford these $100b acqusitions because they don't have anything concrete in development.

their plan is to lean entirely on Bethesda on Activision in the years to come, 100%.

Not a teaser, Not a logo, not a name, not a genre, literally just kojima saying, “ok, im here im doing the thing, bye”.

Thats something i would be cool with if other games had been announced along with it but that as the big new game announcement is weak as hell. Especially since they only do one showcase a year.

On the other side, i fully expect sony to announce a few new first party AAA games in September

guaranteed all of Xbox's funds are locked up into these acquistions, that's why they can't afford anything else.

their plan was never to create anything for themselves, just buy someone else that can.

Gross.

I’ve suspected that MS hands are tied up in that Activision purchase as well. People like to think their money is limitless but I doubt any company even one as big as Microsoft ever want to spend 70 billion dollars without a clear sight to making it back. Its not just the purchase of the company either, its taking on all those new employees and facilities, lawyers they will need now and long after, insurance, etc. they are going to be sinking a lot of money into this deal for a very long time.

It’s telling that there weren’t any major new day 1 3rd party gamepass announcements either. I think the biggest game they had was Plagues Tale which was announced at last years show.

The strange thing about that is that I think that xbox fanboy Gavin Stevens has a game called overdose so maybe they don't know the confirmed title yet. The 12month thing was definitely some heavy PR. It was clear people were saying they don't have anything this year and they tried to turn that into "the next 12 months".

Thanks for saying you weren't called here..... I guess you saw what I am being accused of! Hilariously...

I'm sure things will get better from Christmas on for Xbox players but there are quite a few great multiplats anyway..... Callisto, RE4 etc.

Xbox's problem starts and ends with poor management. They cornered themselves in gamepass, with loads of people blatantly complaining that X or Y game are not gamepass day one. Then you get the added bonus of Xbox leadership (cof cof Phil) being unable to manage 5 studios, let alone 20+. There's some interesting ideas, but seems like every single game is stuck in development hell because there's no clear engagement or vision from the company.

I would love to be a fly on the wall on Xbox leadership meetings.

everything is running as it should, the games were never meant to come out. the announcements are all fake and just done to drum up hype and false promises, and push constant hardware revisions.

Look at phantom dust.

nice spiffy cgi trailer, but phil wouldn't even give the devs the measly 5 million they asked for to make the game.

the same is going on right now with Perfect Dark and Fable, I guarantee you. they're just being used as 'gamer bait' to placate game-starved xbox diehards.

oh, and another thing i was just thinking about before was that piss poor battletoads reboot, especially after seeing how great an indie arthouse dev/pub, tribute/DotEmu did with the new Ninja Turtles game. 😂

How did MS mess up Battletoads so badly? They chose literally the most bottom of the barrel, cheapest studio they could find, and got the results to prove it.

They are cheap as absolute hell. they refuse to invest in games or pay anything for their projects.

They cared more about using the IP with some other studio which wasn't Rare or anbody who understood the past games. They cared less about the creative side of a new battletoads. Rare "collaborated" (probably just gave IP rights) but that game didn't understand what a good battletoads game is.

that falls under Phil once again though. He should have taken one look at that game and canned it.

yup and imagine if we already knew about persona going to switch? the show would have been that much more lackluster. They really moneyhatted a small marketing window for 100% multiplatform games to fool consumers into what, exactly?

thinking they were exclusively getting playstation 4/Vita/PSP ports for 48 hours?

what a petty, pathetic deal.
It’ll be hilarious if the persona games end up on PS+, which I’m partly suspecting, partly hoping, it will. If it indeed happen, it’ll be really amusing. That moneyhat will end up being for nothing.

There is something wrong at Xbox.
Todd looked forced to be on stage, Kojima looked like his kids were held hostage.
Bloated Phil Spencer was proudly presenting decade old scraps.
Greenberg was busy greasing Xbox fanclub.

The most important question who green lighted that janky gameplay of Starfield?
This person should be fired immediately.

I guess when you think about it, it’s fair to say Microsoft at least as of now cares more about gamepass and subscription numbers over quality content… that’s why they’re so bad at what they do.

I'm out of the loop here.

But I can say that the talk I have with @Bryank75 way before the forum ideia become reality was that the forum was to be made to all communities and not PS eccentric focused... so Xbox, Nintendo, PC, Ouya, Stadia, etc fans are all welcome here... invited or not.

What he wanted is to avoid the moderation bias and politics that does exists in ERA and GAF.

Let's create a nice place here... we are all together even with different tastes 🥰 maybe we successed where they failed.

This...

MS cornered themselves.

They don't have the amount of Subscriptions to fund AAA quality one Gamepass and they put the ideia on Xbox players that every game from them should come to Gamepass day one... that basically limit what they can do and invest.
Plus they get no luck in what they invested... I mean the biggest game last year (Halo Infinite) didn't turn what they expected (high engagement) maybe due i343 but that is another issue they need to face.... and the biggest game for this year was delayed.

I know people will say "MS can burn money to make Gamepass happens"... yeap they can but that need approval from the high board first and they already approved around ~$80b recently so who know if they are approving that easy more budget to new high AAA development for Gamepass or exclusive 3rd-party deals for Gamepass.

I don't think Game division get free pass on budget approval at MS at all.
