I think the device is still a wearable, the PS5 is not (maybe they could build a PS5 skin that makes it a backpack with a bit battery).

Putting OS on a headset is less demanding than 4k games at 120

Lmao. Never bought a car? A musical instrument? High end audio equipment? A decent PC? Hell a macbook is $3500. This is intended to be a consumer product. Apple has always sniffed its own farts regarding pricing, this is no different. And the Apple acolytes consistently eat it up.
This isn't a car, this is Apple's version of Oculus Quest 2. $3500 (+ extras) pricing is nonsensical, same goes with their macbook pricing.

But yes, some fans will buy it.

PSVR2 doesn’t run at 4k?
It does.

Not true 4k. It does 2000x2400 roughly in each eye. But each eye displays the same thing. Using this same logic, the apple headset is 8k.

let alone game resolution.. which is more like 720p.

Wrong. 4K are the resolutions of around 4000 pixells wide. The typical one for consoles and PC in 16:9 displays is 3840 x 2160.

PSVR2 renders 2 displays of 2000x2040 pixels each at 120fps = 4000x2040 pixel wide output rendered each frame = 4K

720p = 1280x720 pixels

Regarding 8K, the PS5 according to its box also can output 8K but this doesn't mean any game would ever use it. It can be only for OS or video, or something like that. Same goes for Apple's Quest 2, forget to see 8K AAA games running there.

If PSVR2 is 4k, Apple Vision is 8k. Using your same logic.

Facts are not my logic, facts are reality.

3840x2160 (4K tvs) are 8.29M pixels
4000x2040 (PSVR2) are 8.16M pixels

7680x4320 (8K tvs) are 33.17M pixels
Apple's headset has 23M pixels

Regarding the exact resolution of the Apple device I assume it's 7K-ish, UploadVR said:
"Apple didn't reveal the exact resolution, but 23 million total pixels would suggest a per-eye resolution of around 3400×3400 for a square aspect ratio, or around 3680×3140 for the 7:6 aspect ratio the marketing renders show.

We don't actually know the real aspect ratio of the displays, however, and it's also conceivable Apple's 23 million figure only counts the pixels visible to the lenses."

Ok. So fair enough. PSVR2 is not 4k, and Vision pro is almost 4x the resolution of PSVR2.

It has a cable that plugs into an external battery. I suppose the restriction comes from not being able to plug it into a console or PC, therefore forcing it to have a battery
Two hour battery life. The use case is already lacking, with that limited battery it's just going to be bought by people looking to show off to their friends and society as a whole.

Divide these numbers and you'll get 2.82 as result, not 4

PSVR2 has less pixels than a 4k tv.
Yes, but PSVR2 renders at 4K resolution.

The exact resolution of the 4K tvs isn't the only resolution. 4K resolutions are those with around 4000 pixels in their horizontal axis, there are several 4K resolutions. PSVR2 has 4000 pixels horizontally, while the resolution of the 4K tvs have 3840 pixels.

Spending even that long in a VR headset is not considered a great idea, so I don't see that as a big deal.

It makes me wonder where the external battery is, or will be, if you're walking about. Will it be on a belt, on your back, on your wrist?

$3500 headset + $200 cable + $500 battery + $500 battery holder?
