Ruining Nokia so they can buy them & then failing miserably & shutting them down 'great for competition & the industry'
I don't know... I'm using the grow in the article.Didn't Spencer say in their FTC trial they were still at 25 and they haven't experienced growth?
Xbox Game Pass is 'Steady' with No Growth says Phil Spencer
Xbox Game Pass saw no substantial growth in 2022. That's according to boss Phil Spencer and comes from the recently leaked documents that formed part of thefandomwire.com
They could have, and in some cases a flagship phone would be unsupported in as little as four months.I assume they could have fixed that.
I was already an avid Android fan, mainly because it let me do the stuff people had to jailbreak their iphones without the need to hack the damn thing.
I'd bet that if the current generation isn't their last one, then the next generation will be the next one.How long do we think till Xbox consoles are no longer made? If things continue like this...
0.7% growth, seems that the 'day one on Gamepass', Bethesda and ABK acquisitions are paying off. The MS monopoly is here!
I'd bet that if the current generation isn't their last one, then the next generation will be the next one.
They never reach 30 let alone 32Let's make some maths.
On January 18, 2022 the Gamepass official numbers were 25 million.
Their target was around 45 million at end of June 2023.
They reached 32 million at end of June 2023.
If they indeed archived 28% grow last FY then they over 30 million unless it was less than 24 million at June 2021.They never reach 30 let alone 32
Nope. They never reach 32. There was rumour about some rocktar exec that said something about them be over 30mil or something but soon we find out that nope never happened. If they indeed archived 28% grow last FY then they reached 32 million unless it was less than 20 million at June 2021.
When they reported 18 million?
So, MS is obfuscating their Xbox numbers as usual. It must mean the results are less than pleasing. I doubt they reached 32 million GP subscribers or even 30, they would be screaming from the rooftops if they did.
You say that but then something is giving wrong data.Nope. They never reach 32. There was rumour about some rocktar exec that said something about them be over 30mil or something but soon we find out that nope never happened.
They were officially at over 23 million in April 2021.So, MS is obfuscating their Xbox numbers as usual. It must mean the results are less than pleasing. I doubt they reached 32 million GP subscribers or even 30, they would be screaming from the rooftops if they did.
Doubt it. Also you have to take consideration to cancellation and stuff. If they reached 30 mil they would shout from every roof topYou say that but then something is giving wrong data.
I have these data:
Jan 2021: 18 million (MS)
Abr 2021: 23 million (MS)
Jan 2022: 25 million (MS)
If these are correct then it is something between 23 million and 25 million for June 2021.
24 million + 28% = 30.72 million.
The 28% seems to come from MS themselves.
Edit - 23 million is from MS too.
How Xbox Game Pass is Helping Friends Stay Connected - Xbox Wire
For many of us, the current global health situation has made it more difficult to spend time with friends, family, and the people we care about most. We are heartened to see many people using games to be entertained, to find inspiration, and to strengthen social connections through shared...news.xbox.com
So the minimum is they having no grow between April and June... so the minimum is 29.5 million at June 2023... any little grow in that period will put it over 30 million.
The 28% was from last year when they reached 25 millions. It was until June 30 2022 not 2023. You're counting outdated numbers. Phil Spencer said in October 2022 Game Pass did not grow more than 25 millions. We don't have the numbers for this year but Mat NPD said subscriptions were down every month this year. You say that but then something is giving wrong data.

I recall the apps and lack of phone choice situation (well, Apple offers less phones, but they have good phones for those who want them)... They used to pay devs to port their apps for the platform and that made their platform gain a lot of shovelware made by small teams. They could have, and in some cases a flagship phone would be unsupported in as little as four months.
Also, there was fuck all for apps, even the YouTube and Facebook apps were MS-written web apps that MS paid the companies for the branding on just to say they were on WP.
The whole Windows Phone venture was a clusterfuck from start to finish. Typical MS hardware incompetence in a market that moves WAAAAAAAAAYYY too fast for that kind of stupidity to be able to get a foothold.
Nothing Microsoft makes is worthwhile, and Windows Phone was an utter disaster. The only person I knew who bought one returned it in three days for an iPhone because she bought it when MS promised that the WP 7 phones could upgrade to Windows Phone 8, then backtracked just a few days later. They definitely broke something that could have been worthwhile.
That makes sense. The 28% was from last year when they reached 25 millions. It was until June 30 2022 not 2023. You're counting outdated numbers. Microsoft misses Xbox Game Pass growth target for second year running
Microsoft has missed its growth target for Xbox Game Pass for the second year in a row.www.eurogamer.net
All Sony has to do to counter this is to make more 1st party AAA releases which is exactly what Jim Ryan said there doing. Most 3rd party IP devs, and publishers are a bit shit. Microsoft can buy every publisher it wont matter they cant spend Sony out of the video game business they wont be able to spend Nintendo out either, they rely on 1st party almost completely and all Sony needs to do is put out sports games and AAA games in every genre. Microsoft certainly wont be able to spend them out.It doesnt matter. Xbox isnt operating on year to year growth or profits. They want to outspend sony, and probably nintendo too out of the market and are in a "unique positiion to do so" according to Matt Booty. Their goal is to buy publishers to eventually gain so many IP you have no choice but to go through them.
This is gaming now whether we like it or not:
-MS buys said company
-Phil goes out and lies saying its great for gamers
-Said studios new game comes out, is a total flop sales wise and doesnt move the gamepass needle
-All studio heads and founders leave
-IP is a shell of its former self
-Repeat
That is gaming now. Id prefer sony invest or acuire publishers close to them but theyd rather lay people off than fight back.
Never wish anyone bad luck.
Hope this continues.
This is revenue, not profit though. Most companies that ignore conventional success metrics to suck up the industry at least expect revenue growth to great well profits are low. If revenue is only growing a little, and below expectations, that's far worse than being unprofitable. Doubly so if you're unprofitable and not growing revenue streams. Next year will be key though post-merger.It doesnt matter. Xbox isnt operating on year to year growth or profits. They want to outspend sony, and probably nintendo too out of the market and are in a "unique positiion to do so" according to Matt Booty.
