The fact that Xbox sent their own engineers over to Larian to try to get split screen on Series S and couldn't should tell us all we need to know bout this console and the outcome that could ensure in the future for other developers making their games on this thing.

That is not exactly a solution like they said.

They just forced MS to allow to ship Series S version without all features breaking their parity policy.

Interesting decision and precedent.

Mind you the nature of Split Screen co-op is not something that will be present in every other game out there, and is rather a low percentage. So the S will be sort of fine unless there is some massive standard jump engine wise for the industry which is not happening anytime soon, and Sony's big guns, usually at the Vanguard of this shift, are gonna be releasing titles by the end of the gen, beginning of next gen.

Mind that Larian developed BG3 for years with Split-Screen in mind and looks like people are using that mode overall

Lol, man this Gen will be F’ed up for Xbox going forward. Devs will come out of the woodwork expecting to cut corners to save on dev costs and time.

What a blunder.
Tbh yes, this was 100% a blunder by phil. He should have held the line.
