Black Myth: Wukong is a spectacular-looking upcoming action adventure game from new studio Game Science, based on the Chinese classical novel Journey to the West. The player takes charge of a martial-arts wielding monkey known as Destined One, based on Sun Wukong from the novel. Described as a boss rush game, Black Myth: Wukong was previously slated to hit Xbox Series X|S, alongside the PC and PlayStation 5 versions on August 20, 2024. Until plans changed.

Developer Game Science showed off a new trailer for Black Myth: Wukong at this year's Summer Game Fest 2024 in LA, and the Xbox Series X|S logo was mysteriously absent. Later, the company confirmed on its FAQ that the Xbox version had been "delayed for optimizations."

"We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S version to meet our quality standards," Game Science said, "so it won't release simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards."

Yeah cant straight up say the truth that the product they made is shit aka Series S, So they have to muddy the waters with a controversial statement that can't be labelled as libel -"We Can't comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders"

I wonder if it was the hardware guys being so incompetent thinking 8 GB of RAM would be good enough until 2027 or the money guys obligating them to cut 6 GB to save a couple of dollars.

It always amazes me how much MS talks about the importance of great games and how reality doesn't match up. It's been like that for years now. Maybe they think if they say it enough, people will start believing them and won't notice that the existence of their Series S is the reason why games like BG3 and Black Myth: Wukong are delayed.

Every statement Microsoft makes has to be a subtle attack on PlayStation. Sony should really do more to call them out on their crap.
Fr if I was PS I would say

“Where excited for wukong while we can’t speak about our partners the re occurring technical issues on other console platform is likely answer your trying to find”

I wish PS threw jabs & spit at the dirty green rats. He’ll have PS UK throw a nasty tweet, throw that meme of the rat coping in his death bed wearing a Xbox hat lol

Isn't this old news? I believe the devs tweeted a couple weeks ago that they confirmed the xbox versions need more work.

Of course...

It just a flag that you can change in a file and done... Series S have the same game as Series X.

Reality:
Profile options requires a lot of time and optimizations to be implemented.
Part of the boost in costs in game development are related to how the industry changed to multiple profiles options to end-user.

Every statement Microsoft makes has to be a subtle attack on PlayStation. Sony should really do more to call them out on their crap.
The second Sony fires back at MS is the second the Xbox shill network of sites -- IGN, Eurogamer, Gamespot, DigitalFoundry -- mobilize their audience to attack Sony on social media platforms. Remember when these same sites were oddly quiet when Microsoft (a $3 Trillion company) had to pretend that they weren't able to compete with PlayStation in order to get the Activision deal approved? Marching orders from above.

Xbox Series S is the bottleneck of current gen. Even if the developers have a deal with Sony, it won't change the fact that the Series S is directly harmful to the quality and availability of games on the Series X.
