I am old enough to have seen this many times:
  • Computer games are crap and will die, the arcade ones are better!
  • Console games will die, arcade ones are better!
  • Disc based games are crap and will die, cartridges are better!
  • Analog controls are crap and will die, dpad is better!
  • 3D (polygon based) games are crap and will die, 2D is better!
  • LCD monitors and tvs are crap, CRT monitors and tvs are better!
  • Online MP is crap and will die, local MP is better!
  • Download only games are crap and will die, physical is better!
  • Mobile games are crap and will die, console games are better!
  • DLC is crap and will die, standalone games are better!
  • F2P are crap and will die, paid games are better!
  • GaaS is crap and will die, non-GaaS games are better!
Next ones that still haven't become the mainstream options (and if they ever do will be in minimum 10-20 years) I think will be:
  • Cloud gaming is crap and will die, playing locally is better!
  • VR gaming is crap and will die, playing in flat tv is better!
  • Web3/NTF gaming is crap and will die, to don't be able to sell your unused games/DLCs/in-game items or loot is better!
cloud gaming -is- crap and will die, the only way it will revive itself if it's something only the cloud can do. Also NFTs are a scam so I'm not sure what your point is there

A lot of these things -and other ones- were also crap when they did start. But as is happening with cloud gaming, and will happen with NFT and similar, over time they'll keep iterating and improving the related tech, the related business model, the related type of game / game design that works best there and will keep improving the overal experience and making it closer to what they consumers prefer.

So over time it will continue growing and improving to pretty likely become mainstream even if not completely replacing the previous and worse concept. Because as concept, it's better to just get a gamepad and play on your tv, tablet, phone, potato laptop or whatever you have without needing to buy a $500 console or $2000 pc to get a similar or better experience.

In the same way that people prefers to get games for free than to pay $70 for them. In the same way that they prefer to get new content and features post launch than to don't get post launch content at all. Or in the same way that they'd be able to freely sell their digital games/dlcs/in-game items.

They just need to tweak the tech, business model, game concept a bit more to a point where there's no noticiable downside in that new thing. As an example, if you get a great internet connection and have relatively close a datacenter of your cloud gaming sub the experience already is pretty much the same for non-hardcore players than to play locally. If they improve the latency and IQ a bit more and if let's say Sony gives you a cloud gaming license for any PS5 or PS6 games you bought to play them in the cloud if you have PS+ Premium then you may look at it differently.

The rejection normally comes because human beings reject change and new things. When we're used to something we hate potential replacements even if they are clearly good/better options of whatever we have.

that's a very naive way of looking at things. You can't break the laws of physics, and that's what prevents cloud gaming from being a thing (also the economics). Hell a lot of businesses are de-clouding and moving towards edge or in-house compute instead.

Nah, I was debunking YOUR bullshit with just a few factual examples that prove you are totally wrong when saying that the GaaS is saturated and that there isn't space fore more by just mentioning only a few of the several very successful new GaaS that get released.

A few more: was ZZZ an estabilished GaaS too? And First Descendant? Palworld? Helldivers 2? Once Human? Satisfactory, which after years of early access got the 1.0 version last week and went up to over 155K CCUs in Steam? Nah, these are just a few more of the very successful GaaS released this year. And this is not counting the Asia only games or mobile only games.
Okay 👍

If mighty Google with their Stadia failed, no one will succeed. That service was very advanced technology wise. Offered the best resolution and least lag, and still failed. I don't think any company is welling to put the investment and resources to create another Stadia. Cloud will not pick up anytime soon.

Will it have a campaign?
They didn't say anyting about it, but refered to it as "PvP", which I assume meanse doesn't include SP or coop PvE stuff.

So I bet it won't, and that would be one of the reasons of why I won't play it.

I assume it only will have several isolated tiny lore bits across around the world in the loot or unlocked weapons/character boosts/etc., and then some really minor story bits when certain season/community achievements are met.

But I think it won't have the traditional SP/coop campaign.

Personally I am all in for Sony's Multiplayer approach for paying up front and knowing I won't be nickled and dimed down the road.

I looked at Valorant's MTX I saw them selling some points package for $35 that's fuckin crazy and people have just accepted this bullshit

But have the nerve to have an issue with buying a full Multiplayer game for $40.

Then we wonder why Gaming CEO's treat gaming as a Casino
The idiots on Era don’t get this. They want the game to be f2p. Lol

Almost certainly not. They're going for the GAAS giants with Marathon.

Well when you’re making the same game as someone else that’s a rough battle. Marathon has a playing field largely to itself on console. The goal is to take extraction PvP and take it mass market and hasn’t really been tapped outside of DMZ last year.

F2P is a fallacy. Most games that launch f2p are dead a month later after the news cycle creates false sense of success for these games. (See: first descendant, multiversus, etc…)

F2P not requiring ps plus like every other game is still completely utter bullshit tho. Way to screw every dev in favor of Activision and epic

Helldivers 2 is also an extraction shooter game, but I think the lack of gaming gaming variety and factions have hurt the game player retention. I really love it but your reach a point of saturation with it were it's not that interesting anymore, but more than sure after months of not playing it that if I now comeback I'll get hooked again.

The stakes should be higher and planet Earth should be under siege if orders not taken seriously by the community. Also introduce more factions like rogue Helldivers along with the Illuminates.

$40 won't make any difference if the game is good and the characters are appealing.

We know all the access media has been doing their mental gymnastics around Concord with theories about a saturated market, $40 being too much etc. but at this point all the executives and developers know what propelled the game to the bottom. The child has already yelled about the emperor's lack of clothes.

How many people would be interested in a campaign written by firesprite Devs surrounded around the concord characters lol
I think you meant Firewalk? Firesprite is the smaller studio that did Horizon for PSVR2.

Yes. I assume they don't do both SP & MP because games are too expensive to make and have to focus the game in something to reduce the risk, so in this case they focused on MP because it's where the majority of money and shooter playerbase is.

But sadly this means that players like me who are interested on SP and not in PvP are out. But well, at least they have other game for players like us like Astro Bot, Stellar Blade, Ronin or even Helldivers 2 (and in the future Lego Horizon, Until Dawn, Death Stranding 2, Wolverine etc).

I would be interested on a Concord campaign, but changing the characters and the people who decided to made them in this way. I think the woke/DEI stuff destroyed the appealing of the characters.

If you want a Concord campaign without the characters for modern audiences, then what you really want is Guardians of the Galaxy (or its sequel in case you haven't played it already).
