Is it too bad to say that the games I play don't usually have shader compilation issues? I actually can't remember the last time I played a game with them on PC
I have shader compile stutter every time i update gpu drivers in helldivers 2. Goes away after about a minute but it's still annoying.

My impression is that Proton automatically solves most shader compile issues, It wouldn't surprise me to find out if has something to do with DirectX and Windows just being terrible.

On Linux at least, you get to download pre-compiled shaders using Steam, might have something to do with that.

I visited a buddy today. he got new 40" curved oled monitor and I played some dragons dogma 2 on his 4080...
Lol or so I thoguht. Shaders complied for 10 minutes.... and then the game was 100fps and ran beautiful. So I give him that :p
