Playstation had huge stock shortages the first half of the year, which hurt it sales for a huge chunk of the year.

Once they improved stock in the second half it outsold xbox handily, the gap could have been bigger if they didn't have those shortages.

Its only for the last year that they've really failed to release anything. Before that they had Halo and Forza. Not great, mind you, but its not like the Playstation had been doing much better prior to GoW2.

That's true I suppose. I think MS' output has been hurt somewhat as well by not having enough Series X consoles out there in addition to the S.

2023 numbers will be interesting though lol.

Seethe. I like how this actually gets to you so your coping mechanism kicks in and you have to make fun of PS to make yourself feel better. Not a healthy way to live, man.
Uh... lol what? What exactly from that post is me making fun of Playstation?? I'm making fun of the fact that Xbox has sold a lot of consoles despite having no games.

No where near the issue that sony had with having barely any ps5s for the first half.

Between xbox and ps we already have an idea how it's going.

Ps5 has had yoy increases and has taken number 1 most months in 2023.

Xbox has been pretty much in last place all year so far with yoy decreases.

Unless starfield changes something they may have a worse year then 2022.

As they should. It's unbelievable to me how you go an entire year and a half without any major first party game releases... especially after you bought a bunch of studios.

I think Xbox had an actual chance to compete... if they hadn't fucked up Halo's launch, and had actually started delivering games regularly. But they've dropped the ball every time.

This is last year. PS5 had stock shortages. Xbox was more available.

PS5 still managed to sell more though. The U.S. is the biggest market for Xbox too.

2023 numbers are horrible for Xbox going by all the declines in hardware that happened all year. Not just the U.S. either.

Interesting, wouldn't be surprised if 2023 ytd is 2:1 in favor of ps5
it will be even more than 2:1. Sony's been breaking their own records and Xbox hardware revenue has declined every quarter so far this year 😂🤣

Surprisingly, PS4 wasn't really big like Nintendo Switch in the US.

Hardware ltd at the end of 2022
Switch - 39.41m
PS4 - 34.76m

Switch will probably end up around 50m at the end of its lifetime based on the current trajectory.

If you look at the predictions for 2022, Install Base actually though PS5 would be third place with Xbox selling more and PS5 being down YOY. This is how biased they are in their small bubble where Xbox and Nintendo dominates everything.

Welfare said:
Install Base Prediction Average
NSW: 6850K (+1020k) [+17%]
XBS: 4949K (+469k) [+10%]
PS5: 4858K (-802k) [-14%]
2021 was peak year for PS5 and they would sell 800k less in 2022 😆

Welfare couldn't cope so he came up with the shortage theory
