Yes, like any company they'd love to be market leaaders, to be the best, to be praised by their customers, etc. But after 20 years, losing a many billions and spending almost $100B on acquisitions they continue being dominated as seen in these threads. Even worse, as can be seen they continue losing market share.

I was wrong about the appeal of the PS Portal, seems like it sold everything Sony could produce pretty much everywhere. Makes me wonder how well an actually decent portable device could be doing.

Mainly because it's such a pivotal period in the year and in terms of the greater generation, the third year holiday sales are incredibly important to the longterm health of the platform.

Most PC gamers aren't like you though. And a lot may "have" PS5s, but they rarely use them. This is where "engagement" metrics actually matter: which platform is getting most of their gaming time.
Because that's likely the platform also getting most of their gaming money. PC gamers as a whole may have much lower ARPU than console players, but enthusiast PC gamers who buy relatively a lot revenue-wise would obviously be higher-ARPU than console players who only buy 1-2 games a year, don't spend in MTX/DLC, don't sub etc.
Ideally, companies like Sony would like those type of PC users to shift more of their spending to PlayStation, without compromising too much on the valuation of what they already have which millions of console owners support.
