A Steam release would've helped a bit but the main problem was no physical release. 50% of new game sales are still sold physically

And cmon Mr.PCMR, you should know better, AW2 doesn't use UE5. Which is why it looks so good and doesn't run like absolute crap. Thankfully, it uses Remedy's proprietary engine.

it's the job of a developer to make an amazing game. it's the job of a publisher to get their games into our eyeballs.

This makes the sales numbers for Xbox even worse. Series S is the main selling XB console with the most unit sales total. Series X unit increase from last year must of been literally a few thousands if sales still couldn’t be up overall over last year. It also means SS drop in sales is very large.

Remedy games are too "weird" for mainstream audiences. I loved Control but most others didn't like it sadly.

I do wish their games sold a lot more.

And well, games generate $200B/year, MS+ABK generate a small portion of that, isn't the leader in any area and their game console, store and game sub (25M subs out ot 3.3B players) are irrelevant in the gaming market, so nobody needs them to publish games. They aren't monopolizing (and can't monopolize) anything.
