I wonder...
Xbox executives have the vision but they couldn't pull out or follow that vision.
That means something at Microsoft don't let these Xbox executives do what they believe to be the right path.
And they end following failures lol

Love Ybarra's positivity but yeah, I don't see that happening. To say that consoles will never die is well, bullshit because nothing is forever. Everything (and everyone) dies eventually. To believe that consoles will remain forever is simply delusional. Future of gaming IS streaming. Is it any time soon? No. But in 20+ years, it will be how everyone plays their games and it's either A) accept it or B) move on.
Mike Ybarra should tell Mat NPD because he agrees with Phil that consoles are on the way out. He even made a dumb graph to prove it

PS5 is just a PC but restricted & limited. It uses the same components as a PC. Also a PC is a personal computing device PS console can evolve to do more then just gaming & be more PC like it’s all up to Sony. Apple made there phone to essentially do everything a PC can do outside running games at high performance but I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple changes that in the future.
Valve used to be niche at one point they were a 3rd party Indy team. Now 10 years later there a monopoly & the leaders of PC gaming. I would not underestimate Steamdeck even if it sells 3-5 million in 10 years Steamdeck 3-5 could be doing 75+ million giving how both Xbox & PS are releasing games on the Steam platform day n date
Switch is a consoleNintendo consoles died with the Wii U. It's just handhelds now
when Nintendo Switch 2 & Switch 3 plays all of PS 3rd party at the same performance that’s when people like this will have to swallow the sword & realize Switch & Steamdeck might be in the form factor of a handheld but they are very much console. Both Switch & Steamdeck are specific devices to play video games Steamdeck might be more like PC but it’s very much a specific console like device with more features then a traditional gaming hardware. Don’t worry PS6 will be a Switch like handheld. PS will be force to make there consoles mobile when Nintendo is taking this space all to themselves with others like Steamdeck, Rog, Xbox & even Apple getting in the space
MS has lost in the console, mobile, handheld (which is the same as console & mobile space) & PC. The only space MS/Xbox are winning & you can’t even say that there wining is subscription (streaming service w day one) & cloud but those 2 spaces don’t even look like they will be the future in the next 20 years if they even come to fruition
MS only winning position is that they’re 3rd party w no platform & they’ll make tencent like money which cool but as gamers & enthusiasts most won’t care just like majority don’t care about Tencent being #1
Sony also has all of these things (PC, Streaming, subscriptions, handheld with the Portal) why is it not their "strategy" too? These journalists always trying to make it seem like Xbox is doing something novel and unprecedented.
