They underperformed in Q3 that is what happened.
The target was doable with a strong Q3 but they failed to reach it.
Your overreacting man. The reason why PS5 is slowing down is because we’re entering year 4 and there is still no price drop. Last Gen, the PS4 was 299 at this point, shit even the PS4 Pro was cheaper. Most casuals aren’t going to convert from PS4 to PS5 until there is a massive price drop. The pandemic fucked Sony.

I think it will get another boost with GTA 6. Especially if Xbox tomorrow confirms they are going multiplatform. I can see some new gamers and PC fans not waiting for the PC either.

And it probably would of sold a bit better if they had some more killer titles like Uncharted and what not between TLOU Remake and Spiderman 2. And with FromSoft being even more popular than ever, an exclusive would of been good for the platform too.

I know there was supply issues and they couldnt, but forcing people to buy a PS5 to play God of War R, GT7 and Horizon 2 would of been an even bigger year for them. Instead of it being cross platform.
No1 would get a choice to buy it on the PS4 or think Ill wait till PC. Even though most sales were on PS5, with such a Good year (2022) alot more people would of jumped on PS5, but there was supply issues so that couldnt happen.

Considering what's happening with Xbox, all the spinning of the Q3 report wasn't exactly surprising - but came across as yet more 'Sonytoo' plus a helping of people who can't read.
The Q3 reports wasnt alarming. They still sold great. Im not complaining about that.

Alot of us dont have time to watch the press conferences or read full articles. They shouldnt even be talking about multiplatform, just focus on the PS Platform. Mobile is fine, Gaas is fine. He doesnt need to talk about aggressive changes for Multiplatform like computers/PC. Between his comments and the interim, it just sounds like shit real PS fans dont want to hear about.

It was a ridiculous target. People were constantly mocking and trolling them about it. That's not normal.

You can have an official target of 21 millions, while secretly hoping to reach 25 millions, but don't make it your official target with the shareholders 🤦‍♂️
Also idk why they expected 25 million sales when they’re porting there games on PC instead of getting Xbox, Nintendo, PS & PC players to buy a PS they’re migrating to PC waiting for the ports. Also targeting 25 million sales w only 1 first party exclusive maybe if you had 2 or 3 major first party exclusive but they’re not exclusive many people waiting for SM2 PC port. Sony strategy of PC port is clear they should’ve left it unclear having consumers guess

Also PS5 is 450$ in some areas 500$ while the PS4 now wouldve been at 399$ or 350$ (if not lower I believe)

It was an unrealistic target from the beginning especially when Sony decided to increase prices during this economic period.
It doesn’t matter if us believe or not it was unrealistic.

It was the target and they underperformed.

And to be fair I don’t hunk it was unrealistic.
10m+ in Q3 is doable imo.

Yes but everything should be taken in context.

21 million is still a crazy number. One of Playstation hardwares best years.

For me it’s Sony execs getting greedy.

The thing is, this isn't even new. Jim Ryan said basically the same thing a few years ago:

He says it in more positive language, but basically they want their games to reach more people - way more people - than the console base allows for. Multi-platform, for Sony, means PC and mobile. That's what JIm said and what the Q3 report was about too. As well, we have no idea on what they'll do with their PC strategy. That wasn't outlined at all. Given that, I'd rather wait and see what happens - if anything happens at all.

Given everything that happened in the last 4 years since they went all in on PC ports I think it is way more likely than not that in the near future even single players games will be released day 1 on PC. With the way Xbox is becoming less of a threat they could feel more comfortable in doing it sooner.

They seem to just see PC games as an extra source of revenue that is key to making their business more profitable. Since they hardly if ever talk about the negatives of developing and releasing games for PC, they might not even believe there are any or that they are competing directly with PC, making day one releases or very short windows pretty much inevitable.

What I find concerning is how right after pivoting to PC they started publicly pressuring devs to reduce costs and make GaaS. Games also started taking drastically more time to be made/shown. It's almost as if developing for PC alongside PS5 demands a lot of resources and effort from devs and puts pressure for them to cater to the tastes of the PC market.

The sales miss is one thing. It's another thing to be openly pushing for more PC ports, day one or not is largely irrelevant.

That two of the big three are porting games to PC says something is wrong. Combining that with poor sales figures for Sony, the dominating market leader, and disastrous sales for Microsoft, does not point to a healthy industry. Catalyse that with lay offs and cancelled games and it's a worrying picture.

Yup, I figured that was something like that for the first point... Obviously the usual suspects ran with it.

This a wild/false overcorrecting. No where in the statement does it come close to saying Playstation "never will" do day and date PC ports. That's the poster interjecting their own fan fiction.

William R. Aguilar is totally right. It's sad to see all the usual anti-Sony suspects having a 'mistake' spreading fake news by sharing cherrypicked sentences put out of context and even changed to makes them sound as something they are not.

It's nowhere near as false as your own speculative claims that day and date is coming.

There was no explicit promise that this will never happen, but such a change is what would have to be proven, not the opposite.

You never fooled anyone, DynamiteCop.

I hope you dont count me as an anti sony guy. Im just highly critical of my favourite platform. You didnt hear me complain about them during the PS4 era (maybe a bit about there later e3’s lol)

I dont even like the other platforms apart from Nintendo and I dont buy there stuff atm because they annoyed me with game prices (Pikmin 3). Ill see how the Switch 2 goes
