I mean, that's what they said. But realistically which publisher has the appropriate amount of expertise as well as bandwidth and logistics to make this a reality? I would wager that there's only 2K that would be a "right fit" for that type of venture, provided they agree with the FIFA cut, which is not a given.

Hmm Ubisoft can do the publishing, as a 3rd party that can do it on all platforms simultaneously day1 and have huge experience in software sales + Multiplayer servers maintenance

And assorted other cope.

I hope to see ambitious sales targets for 2024 and 2025, no need to slow down.

It's degrading like we said it would. That 53 meta did not help either. Fast cash grabs are more costly in the long run. Good for them! I Def didn't waste my money!!!
ABK must be worth about 3/4 to 1/2 of what MS paid for them at this stage. God, what a terrible business decision that was. I bet they seriously regretted it the moment they had to give up exclusivity.

I think they may have been regretting it even before that. They bought on track record and IP catalog, then the new stuff flopped hard and the legacy IP have been in the deep freeze for so long nobody knows how to revive them.

Honestly, Activision was a white elephant for MS, but even knowing this now, if I knew 3 years ago I would STILL have been opposed to the world's largest software publisher being allowed to buy out the world's largest games publisher on principle, even disregarding MS' long, documented history of anticompetitive practices and illegal actions.

Watch them mismanage the shit out of this and intrude and try to change things for the worst!

Not a bad Top 20 outside Fifa double dips.

Diablo IV did extremely well all things considered. I'm actually surprised by that performance, specially engagement. The grind does pay off I guess - as much as I hate it.

Realistically, it couldn't be managed much worse. Look at the legendary IP Activision owned that have been MIA for decades. River Raid, Pitfall and others from the 1980s and not seen since the failed Pitfall revival of the PS1 era as well as more recent ones like Crash, Spyro, Guitar Hero all thrown away to quintuple down on Call of Duty, which has started its collapse.

Activision was a zombie company, upright only due to momentum and just waiting for the first big flop to kill it. Then we got Diablo IV and COD 2023 as a 1-2 punch of franchise damage. If Acti was still independent, their stock value would be collapsing.

People are just wildly reactionary on the internet.
PC gets a few good years where it is outgrowing consoles and suddenly consoles are obsolete and they're on their way out.
Consoles aren't even shrinking in term of total units, it's just that other markets(mobile as well) are growing faster.

Yeah but wait a few years and it'll be $20 and below with fixes, new features, Expansion(s) and some transformative mods.
If I actually still give a shit about Starfield by the time all that comes to pass, it will have been worth $38 lol. i think the trick is to buy at the trough, before the fixes. like how I got Cyberpunk on PS4 for $10.

I got CP for $10 as well but still haven't opened it.

Well, I would say that if you remove Xbox and just compare PlayStation to PC, PlayStation is probably on par or faster growing than pc.

That's just a guess though.

I mean, putting all that dead weight on PlayStations back, makes console look weaker than it is imo.

I've always had a console and a pc since at least 2000. for most of that time there were distinctive reasons to own both. Two things are changing that: consoles and pcs are practically the same; AAA game sales potential has exploded since GTAV, beyond the sustainability of any one console.
