The US market has the Xbox on life support. It would be long dead by now.

Down 20% in US but still above 1 million and 376% in Europe 😳

Xbox down once again after being down all year with extreme low numbers and "shortages". COD also down 33%. Everything they touch turns to shit 😬

So where did the 2019-2020 narrative that Xbox would be more competitive this gen go? It's looking like majority of these enthusiast forums were dead wrong, as I suspected. You cannot close the gap on PlayStation, a brand that's essentially become the standard video game console over the past 10 years.

Interesting micro trend for the U.S given these EU numbers. Any scarcity narrative is out the window for the idiots that may entertain pushing it - the NA market is not PS5 starved. So it's not that, specially with a 25 million unit sales goal. Europe is also hurting just as much as the U.S due to inflation so the price elasticity angle due to inflation can only explain so much of the PS5's decline in NA. Looking at a combo of factors here for sure for that NA YoY decline on top of Xbox's decline not translating in any significant way to a PS5 gain to at least attempt to break even relative to last year.

As for these EU Xbox numbers. As they should be - trash.

Are subscriptions important? Because they;re down as well. Revenue? Profit? None of it matters?

The only thing that matters are cooked engagement numbers which tell us nothing. Shameless corporate lapdog.

Oh yes, he can. Won't make sense but he can spin them.

I just cannot see how you give credit to MS for ABK games performance, all they did was hand them $70B and stamp their name on it.

Lol you're just seeing the machine in action and the pain. I mean it always has been like this.

If they pull the plug on Xbox, the machine won't die, it will just move to a PC vs. console dimension, and the same behavior and shenanigans will happen, perhaps worse considering that a Console vs. PC war actually touches very close to home for MS, thus even greater pain and a sense of desperation. Moreover, it's harder to crack a working formula of success by either side of the tug war once MS concedes defeat on consoles (which it has not done yet). Cornered enemy puts up a harder fight when cornered with no way out.

As long as Xbox hardware is in the race, media punditry and any stakeholder in MS's participation in the market will cover for Xbox. Once Xbox hardware is out, they'll cover for what's next in line for MS. The trillion dollar corp will always have media punditry in its pocket as long as it's a market participant competing in whatever sector it chooses to. Today is Dring and a collection of other schmucks, and sites but tomorrow it will be others - don't matter - the constant is that those types will not cease to exist or go away. Do prepare yourself for the switch from Xbox platform (hardware) emphasis to PC emphasis from the shilling apparatus - it's coming if this trajectory continues - not necessarily the EU trajectory, but the NA one - harbinger of a dying console. Fire sales from here on out.

Being the biggest publisher was not their aspirations anyway. Phil's dream was to be the leader in the console war, on top of the biggest gaming empire on earth.

Basically he wanted to be Jim Ryan but he's Kottick instead. Literally 🤡
