I do think that the doom and glooming about FF is a bit overblown at times but the the tweet is comparing FW sales of FFXVI versus 5 tracking weeks of FF7R Part 2, it's not an apple to apple comparison.

Assuming that the 30 percent digital ration is true for both, 7 rebirth would end up around 400k and 16 around 520k. Rebirth also wasnt bundled like 16 was for what thats worth. I think with promotion of say DLC and maybe a "complete edition" when part 3 comes out rebirth could eek out another 100k?

I'm under the impression that reset era is dooming FF these days because they made a deal with Sony. With FXVI it was "decisive" (it wasn't) FF7R is a "flop" (it's not)

They are all pretty much saying Xbox and PC would save the series, which is laughably untrue.

I don't understand how Yakuza/Persona sell 1 million multiplat and are massive successes, but then XVI pushes 3 million on ONE PLATFORM and its a flop. Rebirth pushes 2 million on ONE PLATFORM yet it's a flop. This especially frustrates me because I think square is on top of their game right now... only for forums to constantly try and bring them down.

Do people realize how much of a steal it is to have someone else market you game for you? the deal was probably in the hundreds of millions.
