Helldivers 2 effect man

Everyone busy playing that game and postponed buying other game

Most people on my friendlist are playing that game

Only see a few people on my friendlist playing ff7 rebirth and some suicide squad kill justice league, prince of persia, skull and bones and other older game on my friendlist
Not in japan.

You need to chill dude, take a few days off.

It must be really hard for you to handle all this Final Fantasy success.
I'm hardly even that much active on the site currently since you know outside of work I've been playing Rebirth... I'm great don't need your 99 cents therapy session, thank you 🤣

Yeah, it's so hard for me to handle the success of a franchise I've been playing since Final Fantasy IX, lmao.

That is really bad.
The decline in FF continues after FFXVI and I thought it should have gain some consumer trust after FFXV.

Didn't FF XVI sell poorly or am I mistaken?
Very bad in Japan for a FF game... it is basically where the most decline in the franchise sales happened.
FF used to do over million at week 1 and 3 million lifetime.
262k means it will be hard to cross 600-700k lifetime.

So what's the total first week sales

For FF 16 physical + digital compared to Rebirth? 🤔
It is hard to guess the digital difference because they are a small gap in release date between them... so digital ratio should be very close.
It should be different with Remake (2020) and Rebirth (2024) where Rebirth probably has a way better digital ratio than Remake.

But between XVI and Rebirth there is little room to big discrepancies in digital ratio.

I don't expect Rebirth to have a much bigger digital sales ratio than Remake.
You have to remember the release date of FF7 Remake: April 6th 2020, that's pandemic lockdown times.

Even so people ordered via digital store the physical units... I remember the likes Amazon in Japan got big boost in sales at pandemic.

FFVIIR sold 702k at launch week in Japan.
The digital ratio was very low imo.

PS5 have better digital ratio than PS4 in Japan... well they even have a digital only console base.

Those numbers are low for a Final Fantasy game. Japan really doesn’t care for anything not in a mobile device.

The digital ratio was very low.

More concrete numbers for the launch of Part 1(3days):

According to Japanese outlets such as Famitsu and Gamer.ne.jp, Final Fantasy VII Remake shipments and digital sales surpassed one million units in Japan alone. Since the physical edition shipped 733,000 copies in its first three days in Japan (and sold 702,853 to consumers), the digital edition should account for at least 267,000 sales in the country.

That's a 35%~ digital FW sales/shipment, which is fairly high for Japan even in 2023-2024(the digital adoption rate has been much slower than US and even EU.
You usually only see that FW digital ratio due to physical shortages.

I think these physical number are not good in the slightest but until SE says something or we get a digital split information somehow we dont have the full picture.

So physical sales are 262, 656.

If digital is 10 percent then 26k+262k=288k (10 Percent is probably too low)
If digital is 20 percent then 52k+ 262k=314k (20 percent is still probably too low still)
If digtal is 30 percent then 78k + 262 = 340k (A little over the same ball park that 16 was at, which is the trend world wide)

Id be surprised if digital was much over 30 percent but for fun 40 percent would be 366k.

My guess is digital is anywhere from 25 to 30 percent.

So if 35 percent is the standard like the Post from Evilnemsis8 suggests, that would be about 353k altogether. Still less than 16 first week?

25%~ is the average PS digital ratio for FW having followed Media Creates/Famitsu threads for a while.
Due to the double pack I would guess more 30% to 35% for FF7R2.

That is a estimate based in SE PR.
Not saying it is wrong but nobody knows if it is accurate to be fair... Square Enix never said how many units of these 1 million were physical or digital.

Physical sales Famitsu estimated was 702k in Japan at launch week (3 days).
Square Enix shipment and digital was 1 million in Japan (3 days).

I think SE and Capcom moved away from Japan and they found their market in the west. If SE wants to create a big AAA game, then Japanese market is the last of their concerns.
Yeah completely agree.

Sony pretty much did the same.

Hopefully all those companies continue to cater more to the west and push tech.

I mean, all we have are the trackers, we either rely on Famitsu numbers or we don't.

The problem is that while Capcom has been able to appeal to a more global audience.
FF is losing JP sales compared to PS3/PS4 but not really gaining the proper amount of sales through the rest of the world.
