Update 3/8/24

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is No.2 in the UK last week, while the Remake and Rebirth double pack is at No.4. Overall (both combined), Rebirth sales are down 34% over the Remake launch (which released on a bigger platform and during the first COVID lockdown). Sales are up 6% over the FF16 launch​

I thought it would beat 16 TBH, with the amazing reviews ans everything.

Hope it has a long tail and Sony need to get those PS5's out there and sold.

Thought they would be higher too but it's second best selling, this isn't doom and gloom territory.

UK/Spain data has FF7R higher than FFXVI.
Japanese software sales for FF continues to slide down, you hate to see it.

Looks like the critical reception didn't stop the usual sequel drop that is often associated with FF sequels in the past, but the effect(at least early data) shows its much more pronounced in JP.

If your game isn't coming on the Switch, you're not selling huge numbers beside a very select few and even then expect huge drops compared to PS3/PS4 numbers.

If design/scope of future games don't change to take into account Switch 2, sales will just continue to dwindle.
It's up to SE execs/directors to decide what to do with future projects.
I really don't envy their position when it comes to FF.

If we end up getting another weak console with the switch 2.

Then it would suck for the series to be downgraded in scope and tech just because of that hardware.

FF has never been a technical masterpiece. But se have always wanted to push the tech.

Everyone busy playing that game and postponed buying other game

Most people on my friendlist are playing that game

Only see a few people on my friendlist playing ff7 rebirth and some suicide squad kill justice league, prince of persia, skull and bones and other older game on my friendlist
