we can make loads of correlations which wouldn't mean causation, or would it?

most probably biggest thing is, like always, how good was your last game? FF15 in medium was flawed game. so there it is. lower sales.

Exactly... lifetime and next main line sales will be more telling.
Word of mouth is good for FFXVI (the opposite of FFXV) that can lead lifetime sales to have better legs than what FFXV had and of course build a new base of day one buyers for FFXVII.

IMO Square Enix is in the right path but you can't expect the have better initial sales after FFXV disaster... people that brought FFXV at launch and hated it will probably wait to buy FFXVI... that is expected.

Fastest selling PS5 exclusive to date NOICE!

The hit pieces from xbots, pc and even switch(lol) fanboys failed. Sony players stay winning.. GOTY for me!

The initial sales shows a decline in day one buyers and that can only be worked with time in the hope the FFXVI increase again the sales of the franchise.
The real show of what FFXVI did is after years from now and peharps only FFXVII will really tell if FFXVI was sucessful in build a strong franchise again.
FFXV was a disaster for the franchise and that is showing now.

Yeah this has to be the saltiest shithole on the internet right now. Fiendcode in there ready to downplay whatever number was reported.

3 mil is amazing - will go on to sell 10mil plus. Boycotts failed, exclusivity was the right choice, cry more.

A little perspective for these Nintendrones and Xbots.

COD 2022 broke all records for Activision and it sold 4.4 millions cross-gen on Playstation. FF16 did more than 3 millions in less time.
