It's true. I see posts all over social media about people going out and buying ps5s for this game. I didn't think a $40 game could turn into a system seller but here we are
Ok that's a bit unreal actually, do you have the posts and those can be trusted?

Oh yeah, it passed Destiny 2 and Counter Strike and we're hours away from the peak hour, today will also pass Starfield, Monster Hunter World and maybe even GTAV!
  • GTAV (364,548)
  • Monster Hunter World (334,684)
  • Starfield (330,723)
  • Helldivers II 329,565
  • Counter-Strike 319,586 (F2P)
  • Destiny 2 316,750 (now F2P)
  • Dying Light 2 274,983
  • Halo Infinite 272,586 (F2P)

People calls it a promotion: they do it to sell more Helldivers 2 units this weekend and more PS+ subs on Monday.
CS too? Wow this game is going places.

it’s insane

I’m seeing irls who usually only buy Fifa GTA and COD and Spider-Man go out and buy this game

I am shocked it’s done this well tbh

Bigger than Destiny 2 as well.

It's what I've always said about GaaS, it's a pretty unpredictable market.
I don't think it's that unpredictable, it's just that it's really not about brands or developer reputations and the market has been absolutely starving for something different

Keys to success is obviously a good game, but avoiding greedy monetisation, and being familiar but different. Thats why Palworld hit particularly hard

Servers are so bad and critical to the game that it actively harms it. This is not only embarassing for sony but frustrating as a customer. This is the first online game where server/login issues have persisted for more than a few days, they should start looking at firing their multiplayer programming team.

But we also had extremely soulless and heavily monetized games succeeding.

I've never seen Xbox fans so jealous of a game. There's dozens of these videos popping up on TikTok
