Games can climb for weeks on end depending on the hype around it and where it’s starting from. I’m not ruling it out here. This game has managed to tap the br crowd successfully for a pve game.

Numbers could still legit be growing and the login issues could’ve caused concurrent to seem bigger than it is with actual active players at the time.

It could be a drop off. It could also be a kind of data correction too. I’m interested in seeing how this plays out for sure.

The CEO, according to his post, are expecting it to reach the new limit of 700K. He mentioned millions so I think they're seeing stuff. If it passes COD that's enough to me. Getting close is already a milestone and an alarming call for Sony to drop marketing bullshit for competing games and focus on making such games instead. Hope Concord to manage to be successful enough. I personally would love LOVED a SP experience of helldivers 2 or any sci-fi game. Starfield isn't one btw so no need to mention it.

Arrowhead CEO on Helldivers 2: We have updated the max CCU cap to 700,000. Unfortunately, we expect the CCU to reach that level. We believe that the wait times will be much more bearable.

"Unfortunately" lol what a humble brag $$$€€€¥¥¥

With 700k we should be able to get a little more clarity on platform breakdown. Absent any official update it seems safe to assume than Steam is outperforming PS5 2:1 conservatively.

I still feel steam was given priority since the numbers are public but that's just my theory.

He mentioned the game has sold millions and it's obviously been doing well on PS5 too.

I do think the server issues eventually has hurt the game just a little but it's doing well either way.

If PC alone can hit 450K+ than 700K is unlikely to be enough. I think we'll be good when they are able to survive an entire weekend.

Unfortunately because they could not upgrade it to handle more than 700K.

You assumption is baseless since Steam counts people with the game open unable to login, when they talk about server capacity they much only be counting the people that got in.

Steamdb's CCUs are players running the game app in Steam, including those who can't connect to the game servers and are in the waiting list. The Arrowhead CEO doesn't talk about that, he talks PS5+Steam CCUs inside the game servers.

Regarding platform split there has been two official statements. One said they were about 50%/50%, the other one show he only shown CCUs but meant over 60% PS5 and less than 40% PC even if counting the Steam users who couldn't connect. Absolutely nothing leads to thing PC is outselling PS 2:1.

700K means around 350K per platform, but they already achieved in Steam a 458K peak. Meaning that now around with another similar peak 100K Steam CCUs wouldn't be able to play and around the same in PS.

Yesterday the game apparently was stable with 700K, with logins, matchmaking and rewards working in the peak hour, so pretty likely they'll increase it to 800K and if continues work well to 900K or even 1M.

I estimate the total PS+PC sales to be above 6M, maybe over 7M so far.

re: "absolutely nothing" we have live Steam numbers showing 400 CCU and the cap is/was 450k. people running the app and unable to connect speaks to an excess on the PC side. what we have "absolutely nothing" on are the PS5 users unable to connect. the official statement was made in the first couple days, before the game broke the internet. I don't think we have take-it-to-the-bank facts on the platform breakdown, but there's more pointing to Steam than PS5. raising the cap to 700 will give us even more info.

The current PS5+PC server cap is 700K CCU (not 700K for each platform) connected to the server (which doesn't mean having the game open maybe without being able to connect to the servers, case where you also get counted as game/Steam CCU), you have a tweet from their CEO mentioning it and today there's the related release notes published.

As before, if more players than this try to connect at the same time they'll experience the login issue/waiting cue we have been seeing in both PS5 and PC, making them to wait until enough people leaves.

In Steam there was a peak 457,649 of game (not server) CCUs, but at that point many of us had the connection issues in both PC and PS5 because servers were full. Meaning, a lot of these Steam CCUs were running the game but weren't logged in/connected to the servers, they were waiting to login instead.

We don't know how many PS5 or PC users were logged in to the servers during that peak and we never new the game CCUs in PS5. All we know is that their CEO said that the split was about 50% PS5 50% PC, but maybe that was how they had their servers split and not their game sales split.

Yurinka, not throwing shade here but the 6 million prediction kinda seems ridiculous to me. Not ltd but up to this point already.

There are instances where yea can assume such for “X” multiplatform game based on this many concurrent users etc.

I think the server issue do indeed have an impact here. So does the length a player stays logged on.

It’s not impossible but a 2 million milestone would’ve been already revealed as would 5 million. As well a one million concurrent.

Not saying it won’t happen but I don’t think we’re there yet…

6 Million might be a bit high but I feel like 4.5-5M is a possibility as of right now.

After he said the 1 million, Sony told him to shut up about sales because they want to handle the PR. Sony is very weird about milestones. You never know what they are going to use. They could be at 10 millions and Sony could still be waiting for some other stat 🤦‍♂️

Need a full year before I buy in. At this point it’s just another flavor of the week.

Not to say the game is bad but the gaming community has the tendency to hype games up for a short while then ditch them when something new comes along.

These numbers are indeed promising though.
