Apex got top 12 all time CCU peak in Steam, may be from 2019 but did 432,692 CCU today, still super stong. Above it there's Cyberpunk and CS2.I tend to agree, what's the last big FPS hit on consoles? Apex? That's 2019.

No failure is Redfall, releasing garbage without any respect for quality or even realising how bad the game you are making is.So, it is failure. Cancelled means failure to produce the game.
As they spend tens of millions without any returns.
Destruction All-stars started development in 2017, so how does it not predate Jim Ryan as well? Typical moron, blame Ryan for everything you don't like, no credit for anything goodHelldivers 2 predates Jim Ryan's GAAS initiative. And yes destruction all stars was their first GAAS flop under the PS5 gen banner.
The reason why I said the refund rate rises over time is that we have stats from Steam saying that the highest rates of refunds across the entire year coincide with big Steam sales. The 10% is a rough refund rate average for Steam games, in general. Both in the case of indie and in AAA games, both in long and in short games. Some games a bit lower, some a bit higher. That's for the normal, average decent game. If the game is perceived as pretty bad or has important issues, then it can go somewhere above 20%.
I know this because I have many friends as head of many indie studios and some big ones.
When estimating game sales and revenue, studios consider that whatever they'd sell in Steam (independently if it's for a month, a year or the full game cycle), around 10-15% will be refunded. In some studios who make humble short indies who don't have very good visuals, they estimate up to 18% or even 20%. They (we) really expect a smaller percent, but bump it for the estimates to be conservative and get less awful surprises.
In case of the typical SP indie games, most sales are made in the first few weeks, then around half of sales are made later, specially during big discounts. But the refunds keep being the same on average.
There's obviously the exception of having important issues that get fixed: a game like Helldivers 2 may have had a ton of negative reviews and refunds until yesterday because of the issues. Once these issues get fixed, the refund rate goes back to normality, some of the negative reviews got changed to positive ones, and the new users on average rate better the game.
Helldivers is now at 437k so it's higher than Apex today's peak. I guess Apex is bigger in China/Korea like PubG and CounterStrike because it's low during USA time (155k) and Helldivers is highest at night in USA.Apex got top 12 all time CCU peak in Steam, may be from 2019 but did 432,692 CCU today, still super stong. Soon the chinese will discover the joy of Helldivers and they will ditch the old outdated rubbish
Factions 2 was cancelled, not a failure
Correct.
And destruction all stars wasn’t part of the new live service strategy of 12 games.
I think the implication here is games releasing and not finding an audience.
Predates it yes.
Helldivers is the first game to release since Sony announced their new live service strategy.
The so called 12 games.
Destruction all stars was released before it was announced and isn’t included.
Thats like saying the spider-man multipalyer game failed because they aren’t making it anymore lol
The only thing we got from either game (unofficially from Insomniac) were concept arts
Factions didn’t even have an official name, it’s not a failure. It was cancelled because they didn’t want a failure on naughty dogs record
Destruction all stars was a Sony published gaas game, how does it not count? No failure is Redfall, releasing garbage without any respect for quality or even realising how bad the game you are making is.
Whether you take Naughty Dogs claim that it was cancelled because it would result in a massive over investment in resources, or it was just not coming together as a good project. Either way, they recognised faults and cancelled rather than release a commercial and/or critical failure
Claiming a cancelled game is a failure is ridiculous. The only difference between it and the hundreds of canned games over time is we knew it was coming
Destruction All-stars started development in 2017, so how does it not predate Jim Ryan as well? Typical moron, blame Ryan for everything you don't like, no credit for anything good
Factions 2 is 4 years over 200m down the toilet
Yes, but I meant Apex is a 5 years old game, and at that age most games are dead. In fact, 99.999% of the Steam games never reach that even in their all time peak.Helldivers is now at 437k so it's higher than Apex today's peak. I guess Apex is bigger in China/Korea like PubG and CounterStrike because it's low during USA time (155k) and Helldivers is highest at night in USA.

It's a GaaS, like many GaaS Sony published before. But when they said the 10 GaaS thing (12 when agreed to acquire Bungie) that was already published so wasn't part of them.Destruction all stars was a Sony published gaas game, how does it not count?
Would launching Concord in the fall be smart?Yeah and that's reached it's peak too. That's why I know for sure Factions would have blown up as there's nothing like it out there too that would offer gunplay, traversal combat and stealth.
I've always had high hopes for Concord so I'm def looking forward to it. I think it's gonna be their Fall exclusive.
Would launching Concord in the fall be smart?
Destruction All Stars does not count because the 12 upcoming live service games did not include it. The first game on the list was MLB 22 which was.over a year after DAS came outDestruction all stars was a Sony published gaas game, how does it not count?
Factions 2 is 4 years over 200m down the toilet, how is that not an objective failure? Neil even went up on stage to brag about it
Spider-man multiplayer game never left the concept stage, trying to put it in the same category as Factions 2 is disingenuous!
It's the new game from people who made the Bungie's Halo games, Destiny 1 and several CoD games in addition to other top shooters, it's published by Sony backed by people like Bungie.Would launching Concord in the fall be smart?
After the 6th crash in a row due to servers saturated I decided to stop playing for today.
Btw, new Steam CCU record: 458,709
They can't add like 500K more at the same time, they have to add them slowly because something else can break or even collapse the whole server infrastructure. Yesterday they increased it to 700K, maybe today they increased it beyond that since it was working very well until today we reached the peak hour.Servers are fucked, which is no surprise.
Steam CCU is higher during the weekdays than last Saturday/Sunday...
They needed 1M CCU server cap and even then it probably would've been not enough.
Are you really mad at me because I’m stating pure facts? I thought you were better than thatDestruction All Stars does not count because the 12 upcoming live service games did not include it. The first game on the list was MLB 22 which was.over a year after DAS came out

Factions 2 cost as much as the Last of Us 2 now?
Fuck me the stupidity around here is impressive sometimes
Jim became CEO in 2019, Destruction All Stars got released in early 2021.Helldivers 2 can only be credited to Shu and Connie was overseeing the project after he stepped down, so all this back and forth goes out the window
Jim can have Destruction All Stars
