Honk honk.
can make fun all you want, i still think Valve is on Sony's wishlist, the moment they go for sale after Gabe Newell dies or whatever, Sony will be there, just like Sony acquired Audeze to control Planar Magnetic Drivers on their headphones, just like Sony acquired Crunchyroll and Funimation to control the distribuition of anime content on a large scale

it would make Sony control 100% of their own sales on Steam + get 30% cuts from third parties to fund more high quality AAA singleplayer games we'll play first on console, would get them more money to buy timed exclusivities for both full games and cosmetics/quests such as seen on Hogwarts Legacy (Hunted Hogsmeade Shop), would make their revenue boost significantly and would add 100M+ Monthly Active Users to PSN very easily without major efforts

VR is on its infancy. Not the time for official stuff and walled gardens. Better to grow the media as a whole and then corporations can fight for a slice of the pie.

if you had 300 million monthly active users with Steam + PS as a company, i think you would think very differently

Sony won't buy Valve because Valve isn't publicly traded nor is it for sale.

I still think the OP's take is wild lol.
In an ideal world, Sony and Nintendo would have their own store for third-party games to compete against Valve. Maybe even have console-PC bundles at a discount.

It will never be.

You really should take an objective (OBJECTIVE. not emotional) look at Xbox. They are just closing shop, this could happen to your Sony too. You know, the Sony that is already porting their games to PC.

Steam users are loyal because Steam has our best interest in mind, we the gamers. Meanwhile, Sony not only doesn't give you exclusive games anymore (Your reward for buying their console) by porting games to PC, but still makes you pay for online services in the current year, the platform lacks basic features and many other issues. Yeah, Steam isn't perfect either, but nothing is, you only weigh the cons and pros.

If Sony was the be-all end-all type of platform, I would understand your fanatic defense of it, but it's not.

So stop embarrassing yourself. They don't care about you, they only care about making money.

MS literally had internal documents showing interest in buying valve, if valve would never be for sale, they would never put valve on a wishlist of acquisitions

Microsoft wants to buy Nintendo. MS wants to buy anyone even if they don't want to sell. Doesn't mean anything.

it literally means there's possibility about it happening, so your statement that it will never happen is innacurate, money talks at the end of the day

Dude, there's a possibility of me walking on the moon. Everything has a possibility.

MS is just a hungry orc who has so much money that he flexes it by going to companies that don't want to sell and asks them to sell. It literally does not prove anything but whatever.

Sony should buy Paramount and turn PS+ into Paramount+. :ROFLMAO:

I know you're trying to be funny, but this is a legitimate and successful strategy.

Between Paramount+ (71m), PlayStation+ (47m), and Crunchyroll (13m), Sony would have over 130 million subscribers (obviously overlap).

Getting people to subscribe to 2 or 3 of these in a bundled subscription leads to greater retention and adoption. It's literally what Amazon and Apple have done to make services more popular. Amazon Prime Video is largely a joke, but when bundled with Amazon free 2 day shipping, people don't mind it.

Paramount+ with Showtime (no ads) is 11.99 a month. PS+ is 9.99 a month for essential and 18.99 for premium. Crunchyroll is 8 dollars per month.

For 20-25 dollars per month (depending on the package) sony putting together all 3 in a bundle would be a massive success.

Consider 120 million users paying 20 dollars a month... that's 2.4 billion dollars a month or 30 billion dollars per year.

Now consider 120 million users paying 25 dollars a month... that's 3 billion dollars a month or 36 billion dollars per year...

Now say in 5 years you grow to 150 million users with the advent of the PC Storefront and PC PlayStation users and you've raised the combined price to 30 dollars a month... that's now 4.5 billion dollars per month or 54 billion dollars per year...

And you think Sony is worried about dropping 13-15 billion dollars (their share of the 26 billion) on Paramount Global? It's a no brainer. If they're able to successfully package their services together, they could pay off their investment of Paramount Global within a decade and probably buy Apollo out in the process.

I mentioned it before, but I could totally see Sony buying Tidal as well to offering TV/Movies/Anime + Games + Music in one package.

They have a major advantage in every category (especially if they are able to buy Paramount).
