How this can be good for console owners when middle tier doesn't have access to online ( outside F2P)?

Good, they've needed to simplify this shit for a decade or so now. Fewer tiers, fewer brand names, fewer price points (and no more weasel deals, put your price right and stand by it.)

Also, FWIW, that price is dogshit for what you get, compared to just regular Game Pass. At a dollar's difference, who is going to choose Core over regular Game Pass tier? I thought maybe they could've done what's described in Core with an ad-supported tier that's actually a bit value-orientated, say $4.99/month. As-is Core still looks like terrible value compared to any of the other tiers.

The GamePass console tier thats an extra dollar doesn't give you online play. To play online it's either Core or Ultimate

Following their tradition of copying PS Plus and PS Now, now seems that Microsoft liked Sony's idea of merging their two subscriptions, and also the PlayStation Plus Collection:

• In September 1st, XLBG will get replaced by the new 'Game Pass Core' GP tier (same $9.99/month price as before, continues being the requirement to play online multiplayer)
• Xbox Live and Xbox Live Gold brands will dissapear
• The new tier includes 25 games, a PlayStation Plus Collection equivalent
• Live Gold subbers will be transfered to 'Game Pass Core' tier

I believe they axed the PS Plus PS5 collection. Did they replace it with something similar since?

Games with Gold had terrible software offerings. Plus Essential actually tends to have one good pick out of the three drops a month.

When online paywalls are mandatory for you the perks seem nice but those paywalls shouldn’t exist.

Plus needs a rework too. I expect some changes now to follow this in some form. Premium tier for PS Plus is a joke.

Remove online paywalls and cut price by rolling PS plus premium features into extra. Also partner with Apple TV+ or HBO to have a streaming service available as part of the sub by included discount or promotion. Especially as they plan to triple down on game IP film and tv adaptations.

Second tier does't even include online? This is clearly designed to just inflate numbers and other than copying PS+ Collection they only made it worse. Now we'll at least finally get to know if they had 30m+ Gold subscribers like Xbots liked to pretend.

PC being $9.99 without needing to pay for online while Console tier is $10.99 whit no online included and no monthly games just show how much Xbox fans are suckers.

It’s an insidious way to manipulate people into getting GamePass ultimate, for $1 more you can get a 15x larger GamePass catalog but you lose online access. For an extra $6 you can get your online access back. Giving people the illusion of choice

I feel the same about PS Plus Extra and Premium, there is no reason to "save" one dollar and miss on classic games and trials.
