It needs a price cut badly, but hey, TSMC can’t be lowering prices, being the only player in town right now.

yes, and both US (2,2M more than PS4) and Japan (400k more than PS4) are ahead of PS4 in the same timeframe, so where are the 2,6M+ units from these areas compensated? if PS5 was aligned with PS4 in Europe, we would actually be at 62.6M+ PS5s sold, not 59.3M, it indicates clearly indicates PS5 is below in Europe by the MILLIONS.

Because PS5 is doing better in other smaller markets.

You think PS5 only sells in Europe, Japan and NA?

Sony doom mongers using Tweets and VGchartz as sources.

Well it goes both ways.

Why is the PS5 ahead of PS4 in NA and Japan?

You won’t see these guys mention that.
When they understand there are two key points that put PS5 behind PS4 in Europe...

  • When with supply issues Sony focused the shipment to US (probably due better profit margins there). If you look at France data it will tell you how bad Sony shipment was in Europe in 2021 and 2022.
  • Sony didn't price cut PS5 (PS4 was already $299 at same time frame with 2 price cuts), instead they raised it.
Where Sony focused shipment PS5 is ahead PS4 even without price cut.
Now imagine if Sony had done a price cut already 🔥

Switch 2 will get all Final Fantasy, Resident Evil games moving forward, they'll scale these games to run natively there, 150M+ potential base is insane
Switch 2 won’t get 150+. They won’t have the pandemic to help them this time. There were many casuals who bought a Switch during the pandemic, who didn’t give a F about gaming. Those Switches were either sold or are now collecting dust. Like many casuals who bought a DS didn’t return for 3DS. Many won’t return to Switch 2. Switch 2’s ceiling is 120M, imo.

Let’s not forget the Wii U.

90% of Wii users didn’t return for the Wii U.

The majority probably didn’t know the difference between the two.

Who knows what the reaction will be with the Switch 2.

Wii U had a horrible name. Casuals thought it was just an add on for Wii. For me the better example would be GB to GBA and DS to 3DS. Their successors sold significantly less.

Agree completely.

That’s what happens when most your audience are casual gamers.

Who knows what the reaction will be to the Switch successor.

They better get the naming right.

Like How most Ps2 gamers didn't return for the ps3, and how most Psp gamers didn't return for the Vita?

Switch 2 ... Literally that's all they need to name it.

Why do we continue to act like Nintendo's handheld base isn't just as hardcore and dedicated as PS base? Lol.

They simply consolidated everything into one. Again something really unexpected irredeemable has to happen for the Switch successor to not be a runaway success.

The pandemic ended and the switch is still killing it and even at times outselling PS5 across Europe and still stomping it out in Japan... The Pandemic didn't help just the Switch. PS4 sales would have exploded again if Sony hadn't prematurely kill the PS4 after April 2020
