Yeah maybe it got knocked off by when the new Switch Animal crossing, Splatoon, Zelda and Pokemons joined lolWas Wii Sports really not on it? I guess its really hard to chart with Pokemon clogging the list up so thoroughly.
Even if it were true a sizeable portion were scalped, I would assume the type of people buying a scalped PS5 would probably be into games like Final Fantasy anyways? Like a die hard person that has to have a console and paying extra for it probably knows the brand pretty well? So i dont see how its like some loss for sony? The PS5 scalping theory was something started by deranged nintendo bots on installbase with absolutely no evidence to back it up whatsoever. seeing people fall for that here is laughable.
We are trying to explain low JP sales numbers specifically.Even if it were true a sizeable portion were scalped, I would assume the type of people buying a scalped PS5 would probably be into games like Final Fantasy anyways? It's more believable than the theory of having higher digital sales ratio than the western countries especially for physically centric market like Japan. 50-60% digital sales ratios were used regularly to justify FFXVI lackluster opening in Japan. You know the absurdity of that theory when a country like UK with high digital adoption only have around 56% digital and 44% boxed, for Japan it's going to be lower than that. The PS5 scalping theory was something started by deranged nintendo bots on installbase with absolutely no evidence to back it up whatsoever. seeing people fall for that here is laughable.

Why does Japan have the highest hourly per-user usage of PS+ according to Sony then? This.
Wanted to write it too. Suddenly Japan became digital country
People believe Japanese don't buy digital games because Nintendo sell more physically but isn't it possible the digital ratio for Playstation games is similar as US/UK? It's like you're applying the lower digital sales on Switch to every game on every platform. It's more believable than the theory of having higher digital sales ratio than the western countries especially for physically centric market like Japan. 50-60% digital sales ratios were used regularly to justify FFXVI lackluster opening in Japan. From the data we got from Gibson(Capcom, Japan sales insider) about Resident Evil sales on PS4/PS5 in Japan the digital and physical split was around 30/70.People believe Japanese don't buy digital games because Nintendo sell more physically but isn't it possible the digital ratio for Playstation games is similar as US/UK? We know Nintendo sells more physically but that's true worldwide. It doesn't mean anything for PS digital sales.
What Resident Evil? Village or Re4 Remake? From the data we got from Gibson(Capcom, Japan sales insider) about Resident Evil sales on PS4/PS5 in Japan the digital and physical split was around 30/70.
Japanese gamers need some incentives like Nintendo's voucher program for them to buy digital instead of physical or there's stock issues that prevents them from getting the game physically, such as during the launch of Monster Hunter Rise, Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7R, and etc.
Contrary to popular belief, many Nintendo Switch 1st party games are having high digital sales.
Example of recent Nintendo's games digital sales during their opening week with voucher program.
Zelda TOTK - 2.24m units sold(49% digital)
Splatoon 3 - 3.5m units sold(43% digital)
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet - 4.05m units sold(37% digital)
You can't assume it's going to apply to many Sony games because Nintendo has voucher programs that helps greatly on the digital front. Even FF7R with physical stock problems during covid only managed to have 30% digital sales. What Resident Evil? Village or Re4 Remake?
Anyway, that's a very small sample. Sony would be in the best position to give us that info. They give so many numbers it's weird how this was never revealed.
If Nintendo is already between 37%-49% then Sony is higher than that. 100% sure of it.
Nintendo digital in Japan is close to 50% already.People believe Japanese don't buy digital games because Nintendo sell more physically but isn't it possible the digital ratio for Playstation games is similar as US/UK?
