He's not mentioned as samurai anywhere, nor by any kind of title. Now go back to the time of yasuke and show him being described as リテーナー in any japanese historical document
Completely wrong. He is mentioned in 家忠日記, the diary of Matsudaira Ietada, who lived from 1555-1600. He is stated to have received 扶持, which was a salary of rice that was granted to Nobunaga's samurai and military vassals. There are also several accounts of him being granted a sword by Nobunaga. He's not mentioned as samurai anywhere, nor by any kind of title.
There is one mention on Luis Fróis' texts where he claims "they say they'll make him tono" where tomo is subjective to whether meaning the Portuguese "Dom" or Japanese "dono" (different meanings) and it's also just a rumor that isn't even entertained throughout any of the Japanese records (which are like.. 3 sentences in 3 different places).
The stipend wasn't given only to samurai, much less during Nobunaga's reign because the term didn't exist at that time period.Completely wrong. Sure, but the point is that there is enough evidence that he could have been considered of the warrior class, rather than a categorical "he was just there as a court jester" type thing that claiming he wasn't one thing or another is pointless. If a game wants to portray him as a samurai, there's nothing wrong with that, if a game wants to portray him as someone kept around as a circus act that's certainly defensible as well. Both scenarios can lead to really good game stories about overcoming circumstances yet we have people insisting it's going to be awful without having seen a single minute of story. The stipend wasn't given only to samurai, much less during Nobunaga's reign because the term didn't exist at that time period.
Stipends were also not only given to people with feudal titles (what people keep calling samurai), they were also given to accomplished artisans for example.
This video I shared earlier today actually goes quite deep into not only the (scarce) Japanese sources that mention Yasuke, but also throughout a bunch of questionable stuff Lockley did.
For example, Lockley did changes between the Japanese and English versions of his book, stuff that if it was in the Japanese version he'd be immediately called out on, but then on the English it passed as fact within western media.
He also claimed that certain Japanese historians proofread his works, only to retract it later because those same historians came out saying they didn't.
I think that video is really good, like the ones from Metatron. But where Metatron was limited to what he could find online, this guy actually went to a public library where they hold a copy of Matsudaira Ietada's works.
You'll just have to read the subtitles because he speaks German, but it's worth it if you're curious about the subject.

MehThat poster just wants to posit that Yusuke was a slave. He has an extreme fetish for it, says a lot IMHO.
You won't get any mileage of a real conversation with them. They're a waste of time (and space).
Just to be fair here.Youre the one whos pathetic and need some reality check about how these story goes
The japanese know their history better than ubisoft
I have no ideia. This mf called asscreed a real life historical setting
Assassin's Creed has aliens in it ? Really ? I thought it just had, like, two factions of men from the future battling each other or something similar ( I never finished a single AssCreed game, so my knowledge of the overall story is quite fuzzy). Do they really have Aliens ?doesn't assassin's creed have aliens in it
Yes, they’re not really aliens but they were an advanced godlike civilization that existed hundreds of thousands of years before humans. They created the Apples of Eden that give people superpowers and what the Asssassins fight for to keep away from the bad guysAssassin's Creed has aliens in it ? Really ? I just read your posts and now I have to clean coffee off my monitor. You sir are a total imbecile.yeah, its fine having a time machine, but this also give them liberty to change stuff like making Yasuke a samurai, they dont need to be 100% accurate on a game with time travelling, im afraid is that simple
