It is the same format, the same way, all called showcases but Sony choose to name some State of Play and other PlayStation Showcase... not just that there are other names too (Road of PlayStation come to mind)...

And there is State of Play bigger (more time) than PlayStation Showcase... and vice-versa.
The numbers of games too... there are some SoP with more games than PlayStation Showcase.

Because both follow the same showcases formula.
What makes one or other better is not the formula but what Sony choose to show.

The name in fact doesn't even matter.

Then Sony is just not describing the showcase correctly because they didn't said it is a 3rd-party focused showcase this time like they did in the past.
I expect more about 1st than 3rd.
