PC gamers had the chance to push Sony to make day and date PC ports inevitable

Instead they pirated 10 to 1 and made it so you'll get a PC port when Sony needs to stump up a bit of extra cash 3-5 years after release
It's the reason lots of AAA games went exclusively to console in the first place.

It's funny to see that despite all the fake Xbox hype and the numerous FUD campaigns against the PS5, Xbox's launch peak just went from 46 to 49.

The problems with PC ports started in 2022, when five games were released at once. 1-2 two releases a year would be enough with good marketing.

Yeah, Sony should plan the cadence of their releases better. You had god of war in January, then nothing for a while and in august all of a sudden you had spiderman, uncharted, sack boy and miles morales. All for 60/70 USD a piece one game per month and in the busiest time of the year new game wise.

1 SP game per quarter should be enough. Or schedule those releases when there aren't big multiplats announced.

Thing is if they really wanted to milk things I would do Infamous:Second Son, Bloodborne(rumor its coming), Drive CLub(no way they could have servers still work), Resogun, ect. We still soon are getting Ghost of tsushima, ratchet. Those two alone would be great.

Then there's collections of titles that Sony should do outside of that, like collections of titles and have them redone. They have a endless pit of content they could do.

That would all but guarantee piracy.

If you want to dethrone Valve, create a better service. No platform can compete with Steam.
You sound like one of those Steam cult members, It really baffles me that Valve has trained y'all into thinking downloading another more launcher for 30 seconds is too much work. The biggest PC games also have their own launcher and are doing just fine with their own launcher, Roblox, LoL, blizzard, Minecraft.

If sony wants to make meaningful moves in PC, they'll need to stop giving Valve a 30% percent cut and make their own launcher, and create a PS Plus tier for PC players.

It's only the steam cult members that threaten to pirate games on PC because they didn't release on their "favorite launcher".

250M is what, 1% of PlayStation's revenue? Glad to see Jimbo defending a successful business model.
Their revenue his FY has been 3,644.6B Yen (26,3B, so less than 1%).

Their profit has been $1,8B, so considering a big chunk of that PC revenue is profit and that it has a 133% CAGR growth yes, it's a very successful business model.

Jimbo mentioned that they are happy with how protibable it is.

Sony data for TLOU PC is for April 23, 2023… a month ago.
There is no way it is 832k right now.
The Sony data covered less than a month. We are now a month later, almost 2 months and several patches after release.

What's the average profit for a PC port? Genuine question, because I didn't see that highlighted.

Spoken like somebody who cherishes their 2K SHiFT account. This is a problem on console too, friends. As well as "piracy" in case you forgot.

And it is not selling 🤷‍♂️
Concurrent players acticity dropped to unbeliable levels (less than 1-2k)... the number of new owners will be always less than concurrent player activity.
Playtracker that had data similar to Sony data has TLOU PC at 386k owners right now.

You can still get all the updates on the pirated versions I assume, master waiters have no incentive to ever pay for the game.

yep, you can. Once the original game is released, there's several groups that share updates.

That's it then, it doesn't get more PC than that. It's always really suspect when they say that the game is cheaper on PC despite releasing at a higher price than what it costs on PS5.

Most of the money they claim to save comes from pirating games, specially single player games that get cracked day one. The typical master waiter hates Sony.

To me it's obvious Sony doesn't understand the PC market.

it's a matter of time and most games aren't next-gen exclusive.
Can you pirate games on PS4? Unless you have a very old PS4 with a very old firmware to jailbroken it then it is impossible right now.
Piracy on consoles is something already fixed for decades... we are not in PS1/PS2 scenario anymore.

And like PS4 the PS5 will probably not have piracy except for some niche jailbroken old consoles.
