The PC Ports haven’t afffected PS5 sales cause they are similar to PS4
You can repeat that all you want and it will never be true. Your entire premise is stupid, before PS5 released nobody expected it to not do considerably better than PS4, specially when going against a disgrace like the Xbox Series.

Speak for yourself. Keep repeating your nonsense without any factual evidence.

What were you expecting after a pandemic, supply shortages?

PS2 level 160 million sales?

Well guess what? The PS5 is tracking ahead of the PS2.

The PS2 was an anomaly like the Wii. A Trojan horse used to play DVDs by many. It was sold for more than a decade officially and you could get one for 100 USD later on its lifecycle.

Manufacture and distribute the PS4 until 2025 abd price it at 150 USD and watch it sell as much as the PS2 if not more. PS5 BC killed PS4 sales.

So was the PS4, so what? You PC extremist can't even come to terms that porting PlayStation exclusives to PC has consequences, it's incompletely absurd to think otherwise.

It's implied in you discourse that Nintendo could release all their games on Steam today an that would only benefit them and have no impact on the sales of their consoles. Wake up.

Xbox start porting their games to PC, it is followed by negative momentum and the eventual death of the console.
PlayStation start porting their games to PC, PS5 starts to track bellow the PS4 and misses an estimate of sales by over 4m units.

Fake news. Xbox Series had a ton of hype, PS5 was constantly doom and gloom, and PS4 was a smash hit.

You’re making shit up.

Lmao, what a revisionist story, only idiots believed the Xbox Series had a shot and the date we had showed massive mindshare advantage for PlayStation.

PS4 was the one people were surprised about given that they were following up the PS3 and the Xbox One was following up the 360. Xbox One also did rather well early on and only truly collapsed a few years later when they started to put most of their games on PC.

The economy is what leads them to buy GPUs and Nintendo Switches ass well? Please, get real.
Well GPUs have other uses then gaming, not necessarily people buying GPUs to replace a console.

Nintendo switch even withotu a price drop is quite cheap, especially the switch lite.

Price is what's hurting them.

The best selling Switch for some time now has been by far the OLED one that costs about as much as a PS5 DE.

Right so between online discourse, media coverage, and analyst predictions you’re saying what? Idiots? Sure, but that was the general sentiment.

Get your head checked.

It's different and you know it. Nintendo has trash tier online, hardware and SW pricing. Their games are all they have. They would go down the drain as soon as the games are ported to any system let alone PC.

MS and Sony run circles over Nintendo on HW and online. It's the alternative to folks that don't want to deal with a PC and have a decent gaming experience.

It's not my fault I'm not an idiot and I was able to look at all the metrics that showed the PS5 would be the continuation of the PS4 dominance and there was no reason for that to change specially with the stupid 2 SKU strategy of Xbox. Anything related to PS5 would blow up far beyond anything related to the Xbox.

The only surprising thing is how much the PS5 has struggled to beat the PS4 and the growing lack of enthusiasm and negativity associated with the PlayStation brand.

PS5 DE isn't even stocked that well, when it is in stock it sells out quickly.

Which should prove price is very important.

PS4 had these going for it:
- Price was lowered to 299$ and very early too, giant unit sales achieved
- GTA V pushed hella units
- no economic crisis of this magnitude following a world-stopper pandemic

PS5 had these going for it:
- said pandemic created stay at home economy of its own where software sales skyrocketed, it may have also pushed for hw sales if not for supply chain constraints
- price was increased in Europe! Only limited sales all around haven't produced a push of units
- GTA 6 haven't still releases BUT it's right around the corner (GTA effect to be repeated and now that PS is really the only surviving console platform it's going to be even bigger results in that effect)
- supply issue seem to be resolved just in time for 2025-2026 slate of games, especially system seller first party games are about to drop (PS4 2018 effect to be repeated)

As you can see, next two years they are set to sell much more than they've forecasted, so they'll revise their low ball numbers to higher and I am betting they'll punch above LTD PS4 sales numbers in clear margin too. You guys see 'issues' where there are none.

Oh... so it's the lack of stock that is holding the PS5 back? :ROFLMAO:

Are we back to reusing old excuses? You guys just can't cope with reality.

Says you.

Why is the expectation for the PS5 so low? Why should've we have expected that PS5 would do considerably better than the PS4?

Why was Sony expecting to sell 25m PS5s but then they ended up selling less than 21m?
Before this generation started, pretty much everyone agreed that the PS5 had potential to dethrone the PS2. And now the bar has fallen so low that 100m would be acceptable.

People keep lowering the bar, the same people making excuses for them missing the 25m estimate were the ones saying that it was a given, discrediting how well the Switch is doing ,etc.

Clearly, even Sony figure that the rebound due to ample availability would've been much stronger.

Uhm no.

Ps5 disc is the one that is mostly stocked, and that is still expensive.

Says facts.

The PS4 is the benchmark we have to use.

The PC Ports haven’t afffected PS5 sales cause they are similar to PS4.

Also this fiscal year the PS5 sold 20.8 million which is better than any PS4 year.

The PS5 is in fact doing better than expected considering we haven’t seen a price drop, lack of new AAA games and inflation in a major region.
I think Software profit in a few years, 1st and 3rd party will be important. Its all too early. Theres new kids/teens getting into consoles, buying there first Playstation, but there are also plenty of people not bothering with PS5 and waiting for PS games on PC instead.

Also everyone is gonna have to backtrack when Valve release a home console version of Steamdeck. They are slowly creepying up in sales, users, and they dont spend nearly as much as Xbox/PS. They are just sitting back and racking money. They are one step away from consoles after Steamdeck
