They want to propagate their failing business model to other platform holders, like a cancer.
That's what he said re: first party. It's the only way it would work anyway. And yep, they would need to make all the games available natively, with the standard revenue split. Basically, Microsoft is going from earning 100% of nothing to 70% of something. Good deal for them. Humbling. Necessary.Only way I can see this happen if service only include 1st party games, Sony/Nintendo took 30% share of subscripton revenue including DLC, microtransaction.
Uh... Is this a real article? Like a soft announcement of going 3rd party, and just having XB around as a preference choice?
Phil said a while back that the board was pressuring him to find a replacement. My guess is that the ABK acquisition was what put that on hold. Now that it's done and Xbox is still in a disastrous slump, the cogs are turning on his exit again.Cult leader Phil usually speaks on behalf of xbox so it not him saying this is interesting. I wonder if there is an internal struggle at MS about to stay in console or get out and the way this guy talks definitely leans get out. Wouldnt be surprised if Cult man phil, greenberg, and booty were pushing hard for console but the money people (stewart) are pushing hard to get out? I also wonder if their important announcement at the game awards will be another step to going third party?
Only if they have dropped the ridiculous deal they proposed to Sony and Nintendo a few years back where all DLC and micro transaction purchases were through MS' storefront and did not give any cut to the platform holders! That's what he said re: first party. They've bent the knee.
I don't think Nintendo would allow it. They don't even have fucking voice chat for safety reasons. The real play, as I said above, is Smart tvs in the late 2020s. They should be ubiquitous then, hate them though I might, and can pass Gamepass through with little negotiation.I think Sony and Nintendo only would accept GP on their consoles after MS quits from selling consoles, paying them the 30% tax for it (not allowing to buy it elsewhere), paying them the 30% tax of the DLCs/IAPs of these game and if it only features MS published games that also would be available to be bought in PSN/eShop.
What MS wants is to have their own store and GP on PS and Nintendo where instead of paying the 30% they pay 0% and where they'd also have 3rd party games. Something that obviously Sony and Nintendo won't allow unless forced by market regulators (something Epic and MS are chasing).
they just promoted a bunch of useless idiots, so idk why Phil would go.Phil said a while back that the board was pressuring him to find a replacement. It's good if Phil goes because he's obsessed with taking down Sony and his way to "compete" is by buying all the publishers.Cult leader Phil usually speaks on behalf of xbox so it not him saying this is interesting.
