So, this bitch wrote to regulators about Sony's 'monopoly of 98%' in high end gaming....

Look at her funding.... what a corrupt bitch.

You can easily find her boasting about how she wrote to Japanese regulators etc about Sony...on twitter.
Look at this douchebags how they do celebrate it.

But no matter which person writes to Japanese regulators, Japan don’t give a fuck about America and Microsoft. Japanese government will always side with Sony. Sony is very important for their economy, second richest company in Japan after Toyota.

Few thoughts:
First of all the fact Microsoft is using a senator to invoke the yellow peril attack against Sony, in their homeland no less is absolutely astounding and shows the level of desperation Microsoft are grasping at. This senator has no clue about the Japanese gaming market and quite frankly doesn’t have a right to speak on it if this is her level of knowledge. The fact Microsoft is even using their Japanese market share to begin with a huge red flag imo for people that want this deal to go through.

Second thought, I don’t see how this doesn’t burn bridges in japan for Microsoft. They’re already dead there, losing market share in the west, and now attacking Sony on the basis of being Japanese and doing reasonably well discounting Nintendo. If you’re a Japanese third party how do you read that as anything other than an American corporation invoking anti Japanese rhetoric? Maybe I’m getting to defensive here but it seems like a strategy that could backfire.

If more thoughts come to me I’ll post them but my initial take, especially coming off the heels of the red fall director admitting that Microsoft mandated the ps5 version be canceled, is that this is a desperate swing for the fences move here.

I think we can safely assume that MS has thrown in the towel on Japan.

Is it even Japanese regulators responsibility to help Xbox in Japan? Lmao, this is ridiculous and very transparent given the timing.

Seems like the general theme of MS PR this week is "Asian panic ".
It's even worse they are calling out the japanese government, what do they want them to do block free market deals. Insane.

It’s weird that Xbots want third party exclusively banned in general. I guess they think that benefits Microsoft, but I don’t see how. Most of the games they hyped this gen have been timed third party exclusives like high on life, the ascent, scorn, that silent hill knock off game, and crossfire x. That resetera thread really is a delusional place.

Are they hoping some law gets passed that outlaws third party exclusives? What’s that even look like? If a developer needs funding and platform holder comes along it has to be multiplatform? Why would the platform holder invest in them then? What if the game can’t run on the hardware like the switch for example, do they need to make a switch port anyways? Would this law only apply in America? Ok so Sony still makes deals with Japanese third parties. Does the world government pass a universal law outlawing third party exclusives? Does Nintendo sign on to that? Does epic? What’s stopping third parties from creating shell companies that get investment from Sony and is just a new first party company “from the ground up?” Does the funding of movie and tv shows and who distributes them become part of the equation now? It’s all so stupid.

Do a Google search of Maria Cantwell and Microsoft, they have a very close relationship and MS is one of her donors. She also has criticized antitrust action against Microsoft in the past. I think the fact that Microsoft have senators doing PR for them now might indicate that they are feeling a bit of pressure behind the scenes.

Maybe because of this

MSFT/ATVI object to producing duplicative documents - REJECTED
MSFT/ATVI claim FTC has exceeded RFP number limit - REJECTED
MSFT/ATVI refuse to give docs past Dec 08 2022 on grounds of privilege - REJECTED
MSFT refuse to hand docs from specified word searches as it is unduly burdensome - REJECTED
ATVI says RFP 1 and 2 are unduly burdensome - REJECTED
From what I see, every defense MSFT/ATVI had was rejected. Looks like the FTC will be getting all the docs it has wanted.

Found this on IB.

The FTC request is illuminating
MSFT
  • RFP 1 requests materials sent to ??? (looks like ABK, talks about dates like Dec 08, the date MSFT board first approved of the merger)
  • RFP 3 requests documents related to cross-play
  • RFP 6 requests documents related to { }, the code name for Microsoft’s next generation gaming ecosystem. { } is part of Microsoft’s forward-looking strategy for its console, subscription, and cloud gaming businesses
  • RFP 11 requests all documents related to exclusivity of content Microsoft acquired from ZeniMax and exclusivity of content Microsoft proposes to acquire from Activision.
  • RFP 16 requests all documents related to making Activision content available on competing products and services after the Proposed Transaction closes.
ABK
  • RFP 1 requests documents related to gaming consumer preferences, factors affecting consumer purchase decisions, and consumer willingness to switch from one gaming console to another.
  • RFP 2 requests documents related to the relevance of cross-play,
  • RFPs 5 and 7 respectively request documents related to offering Activision on subscription services and cloud gaming services, including services from Nvidia (GeForce NOW), Nintendo (Nintendo Switch Online or NSO), Google (Stadia), and Amazon (Luna) and request documents related to offering Activision games on Nintendo devices. Even after identifying examples of relevant terms missing from Activision’s search term list, including, for example, “GeForce NOW” and “NSO,” Activision refused to consider adding any additional search terms.
  • RFP 8 requests documents relating to purported cannibalization of purchased games (“buy-to-play”) by subscription services and whether consumer behavior differs between buy-to- play users and subscription service users. Even after Complaint Counsel pointed out that “cannibalization” was missing from Activision’s search terms during the investigation, Activision refused to search its documents using this one term.

I would be more worried about CIA assets making a few calls in the UK (those you will have no idea were made). She's just part of the PR space push to send warning signals. With Fumio's government you should expect total compliance, should it go beyond a minor scuffle, which it won't.

The ftc is against this deal. The ftc is part of the US government. The cia isn’t threatening the uk and Japanese governments so Microsoft can buy a video game company. The US government is concerned to the point of pulling its hair out about what to do with Russia and China forming an alliance right now and they are in no position or concern about alienating Allie’s at a time like this because Microsoft throws temper tantrum. In my opinion of course.

I could see your fears being true if the ftc was for the deal and taking an aggressive stance towards other regulators in other countries, but they’re the ones leading the charge to block the deal. This is an escalation but it’s just more desperation.

An ignorant take from an uninformed person who, no doubt, is doing a favour for MS here. This latest angle of attack to divert attention to Sony and away from MS is one of the most blatant ones yet. On top of which the use of nationalism represents a new low even for MS. I sincerely hope this acquisition is blocked. All the lies, the classless PR, manipulation of their loyal fans/the general public, and blaming of everyone but themselves for their difficulties has made me realize just how pathetic MS really is.
