Wanna know the best part about the appeal? Even if it goes through, the decision reverts back to the CMA. The courts can only ask for more research/clarification from the CMA, they can't go over them and approve it.

Jeez. Basically it'll be Groundhog Day for Microsoft, stuck in a bad loop.

As Steve Jobs once said, MS just keeps coming back. They will find studios they can buy without the hassle of regulators. I hope they just leave the big ones alone after taking some many Ls.

They could go after Certain Affinity and Avalanche, though as @daniel5043 mentioned to me, they aren't free agents. Still though, I think MS can convince whoever owns them to sell them to them, similar how Sony convinced ProbablyMonsters to sell them Firewalk.

Because at this point those are the only two developers they could easily acquire. Crystal Dynamics and IOI being the two other ones, but they'd have to negotiate a deal with Embracer Group to sell them off. Actually, Microsoft could probably just negotiate for a few particular teams Embracer has, if they really wanted.

None of this would make up for losing the chance to acquire ABK, but it's relatively "easy" growth for the gaming side by comparison.

He says they're shielding the market leader yet they dropped the console market SLC that was relevant to PlayStation.
Shielding the market leader? MS is the market leader when it comes to cloud. The cma can give 2 shits about Sony at this point.

Yep, but people will still blame Sony.

Some on twitter are hoping that MS buy Take2 instead or moneyhat every major 3rd party release for the next 10 years. There's about a dozen things that make that unlikely to happen, but they're coping right now.

Sony and Nintendo are so professional and respectful.
Were this Sony or Nintendo trying to gobble up some major publisher, you'd see trash like Aaron Greenberg gloating on social media.
How can a company let their suits act like that is beyond me.

Brad Smith with his "having the 10 year contract deal in his pocket and waving it around, waiting for Sony to sign it" is far worse than Aaron Greenberg imho.

It's disgusting how smug and arrogant he behaved.

One of the good things about the focus being on cloud gaming is that Microsoft, you know the one actually trying to make the purchase, is back in the hot seat instead of sony for wanting to block it. With the focus being on cloud gaming sony is no longer in the picture anymore, at least in the uk. Microosft cant point fingers and "NO, THEM!" Anymore.
