That's one of my favourite parts of this - the arrogance Microsoft would have had to have to think they could get away with offering deals that only benefit them and package it as a win for competition is insane and insulting.Pathetic. Those deals longterm benefit microsoft and I'm sure the CMA saw through that as most of us have.
Let's see how happy they are when Microsoft decides to pull those games once the deal is over.
Damn, when Square Enix is mocking you publicly, you done fucked up.
Well, at least he didn't tell them to go buy it on Xbox.

'We will be in gaming'... for sure, you don't need to shut down the gaming division if an acquisition goes wrong, mr. Nutella. Or is someone at MS tired of losing money with gaming and asking to shut down Xbox?Satya was already on the distancing train
Microsoft CEO: ‘We will be in gaming going forward’ even if Activision deal doesn’t happen

Surely, the deal is dead.
“Basically, this is Microsoft and Brad Smith throwing their toys out of the pram after they didn’t get the decision they wanted after all the lobbying they did,” said Max von Thun, director of the Europe office of the Open Markets Institute, a proponent of stronger antitrust enforcement.
“They’re struggling to maintain that ‘good guy’ reputation,” von Thun said.
Seems that MS was going to allow other cloud gaming platforms CoD during 10 years buuuuut if they give MS 100% of the game/DLC/IAP/passes revenue made there, instead of the 70%:
I assume this means that Sony could have CoD on PS and PS cloud gaming but giving Sony 0% of the game's revenue instead of 30%. It's understandable that Jimbo told them to fuck off.

it is like, make all the money for usWas coming here to post this. This is a bombshell and is likely the reason CMA laughed this out of the room. This is basically a poison pill that lets MS expand the reach of their game and get to keep all of the revenue. Those fake contracts were win-wins for Microsoft
They pretending the CMA is confused about the documents they have access toBut wait, I thought Sony was the bad guy charging 30%? Let's see how the shills spin this
Totally disgusting. Worst are the companies that agreed to the 10 year deal just to stick it to sony(nintendo). I hope sony locks up SE and Capcom and tell nintendo to go eat shit.Disgusting. CMA is 100% correct.

This is giving the FTC a lot of material to use in court. Was coming here to post this. This is a bombshell and is likely the reason CMA laughed this out of the room. Also another great part of this. Microsoft's thrashing about and insistence on challenging this means the alleged illegality of the FTC's opposition is going to be tested in court and Microsoft will lose there as well, possibly enshrining new anti-trust precedent into law. This is giving the FTC a lot of material to use in court.
Yeah the judge approved them getting their hand on the docs for these deals. I'm hoping for more juicy leaks. This is giving the FTC a lot of material to use in court.

I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder if this could spill over to the complaints google and amazon have about unfair cloud practices. Im sure google and other third parties are now hammering EC hard about cloud now that cma blocked it because of that. And as more information comes out they could probably add to it.Uh oh. Could this be the same thing they are offering the EC as cloud concessions?
