Holy fucking shit. What a shit company. To let a series like that die and during a period where there was no competition.

And this is a company that wants to have more IPs? Wow.

They're going to end up with COD so it's no wonder they're dumping it. I wouldn't be surprised if Gears is next. Better yet give Halo back to Bungie since it was originally their main game. It'll be better in their hands again and give playstation a FPS multi-player title they'd own. This further promotes Microsofts pay to win agenda.

They're going to kill both CoD and Gears.
The biggest problem MS is going to face if the deal goes through is keeping ABK operations afloat.
Culture difference is a bitch and every single one of ABK workers will feel it. Workers will be cut because of redundancy.
There'll be mass evasions when the merge finishes and it's likely the quality of content will drop over time, just look at Disney.
But management is key: Disney content quality is dropping but I'm sure they'll fix shit up and recover.
MS? Nah, they can't do it, they're incompetent. They'll kill CoD and try to replace it with something just like they did with Skype and MS Teams.

Microsoft, Activision Weigh Sale of Some UK Cloud-Gaming Rights

The merger agreement between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard is due to expire on July 18, which would allow either company to walk away from the deal and triggering a $3bn break fee. However, after this week's legal victory in the US courts and a potential lifeline in the UK, people close to the companies say they are likely to agree an extension to the deal early next week. "Things are moving quite quickly," said one person close to the negotiations.

most likely outcome is ABK get the extra money they ask for and the deadline is extended. FTC continues to flame out in court with their horrible lawyers, and CMA allow this new ringfencing strategy in the UK.
Just like I said, ABK and MS will extend and these two pieces of news show that the CMA will likely see this as a sufficient divestiture and approve this new UK deal. All FTC had to do was wait it out but this failed injuction gave MS all the leverage they needed.

Which is the dilemma we're facing now I agree. They're buying because the can't compete and when COD or gears sink or if they will go after another Publisher or Developer and continue to get these free passes because they're third or second. The regulation system needs a major overhaul, or this won't stop.

So guys what will happen now until July 18th?
We know so far the request for an appeal of Judge Corley’s decision was denied.
Deadline is terminated for 18th July , 2023.
CMA extended their final report to August 29th…

I am asking myself which scenario will occur:

Scenario 1: Activision Blizzard and Microsoft are working a new extended deal + deadline. They announce it on Sunday or Monday. They are waiting for the report of CMA and maybe appeal it depending on result.

Scenario 2: Microsoft will close with pure force this acquisition. Microsoft violating UK and USA laws. Microsoft getting sanctioned and sued by the government of UK & USA. Trouble awaits Microsoft the next months…

Scenario 3: Activision Blizzard is backing off this deal and gets the $3B compensation fee by Microsoft. Microsoft is in internal hell because of this disastrous outcome and preparing for leaving console business within the next few months. Drastic announcements following…

What do you think we can expect?
Your factual opinions are welcome.
3.

I would have said it's unlikely they would leave the console business until their internal documents were released. It seems like they don't want to compete unless they're taking shortcuts.

CMA doesn’t want to be the odd man out. That‘s human nature.

Most of us thought the deal was dead at some point. Never underestimate the power of money and greed.
