First year with Activision… revenue will be up by double digit the whole year.

The next year… well that is when you won’t have anything to hide the bad results.

This is when Phil is in trouble.

This is a reason why Sony isn't going to lose margin by cutting the price of the PS5. As long as their MAUs and software/subscription sales remain strong, they know their business is in a strong position.

Fanboys desperately want Sony to cut the price so that people currently playing F2P and annual sports games on PS4 can play F2P and annual sports games on PS5... It's just terrible business sense.

Why did they close Firewalk and Neon Koi if the MAUs are still high? Isn't that all that matters? Until Dawn flopped, Concord flopped, Lego Horizon will flop, GOW Ragnarok PC flopped.

PS5 Pro is underperforming outside the US according to an insider on Era and he specifically said the PC ports change the perspective of getting a console with no exclusives.

How many flops is it gonna take before they wake up?

It's not Microsoft who bought Activision, it's the other way around. Microsoft gaming revenue is only thanks to Activision up. They love to plumes themselves with borrowed plumes.
Yeah, but now they are forced to release games on PS5 to be up YoY each quarter. The PS5 releases will need to be more frequent after next year.

Exactly. If Phil doesn't deliver a banger on PS5 next year he is probably out. They won't accept a YoY decrease in the first year post ABK.

This really limits him because he doesn't really have many bangers in the first place. So he'll have to do it by committee, i.e. multiple games.

The hardware gig is up.

Great numbers and while people will still use bad numbers by excluding ABK, that's why Microsoft acquired them and excluding them makes no sense. Doesn't matter what it was or what it would be because that's not what it is. Hardware being down is no surprise but that's why Microsoft is porting their games everywhere.

And COD going over 500M copies sold gives them an average of over 23.8m sales for each game. Shit is nuts.

People are pointing out and rightfully so that this is the end of Xbox as a hardware platform.

I don't think anyone really cares about Xbox rebranded as ABK.

I don't believe that Xbox hardware will end any time soon. I think people want it to end as opposed to being realistic and realizing that Microsoft doesn't need the hardware to do amazing to make the revenue and profit that they want. Their hardware has declined as has their brand for a decade. They still haven't recovered from their Xbox One reveal and never will. Microsoft will focus on their strengths which in this case is their IP's and software. Xbox hardware will simply be there for those who prefer Xbox and are already invested into the eco-system but will always stay #3 behind Nintendo/Sony.

Microsoft is no charity, of course it can end whenever they see it fits. It's was confirmed by an interview from Phil Spencer that their current CEO Nadella was close to shut down the Xbox division between 2014 - 2015. Microsoft is a profit oriented company they don't care about the hurt feelings of the Xbox players.

It was late 2017 when Nadella could have shut down Xbox but Spencer convinced him not to and instead, invest a lot of money into Xbox which he has and is why I don't see Xbox going anywhere. One main factor is that while people like to make fun of games not selling on Xbox, they're still selling tens of millions of games a year and aren't going to give up that 30% cut. It's basically free revenue.

I believe that when Xbox hardware dies, Sony will be doing exactly the same as both will be cloud based. Granted, this is at least 15+ years away but just like how I see both Microsoft and Sony being digital only with their next consoles, it's just a matter of time.

Lol so when Microsoft’s console hardware business dies you want Sony to follow suit. That's not happening buddy. Sony sells easily every generation 100m+ consoles. There is no way they would abandon that. Plus Sony doesn't possess the necessary infrastructure for Cloud. It just going to be PlayStation and Nintendo. Xbox will continue to exist as 3rd Party publisher. Plus Sony is literally the company who invented storage mediums like DVD and Blu-ray. Sony sells a high chunk through physical media. Sony has trademarked PlayStation consoles until PS10 and beyond btw. It's just wishful thinking seeing Xbox now dying as a hardware platform and wanting Sony to adapt Microsoft’s decisions too.
