Microsoft's Q1 2025 (fiscal) earnings:

Xbox made ~$5.1B in Content & Services in the last quarter (July to September 2024).

Playstation made ~$4.3B in Content & Services in the same period, in 2023. I see no reason for this number to have grown this year, so, excluding hardware, the Xbox division is most likely making more money than the Playstation division currently. Margins should be higher also.

Exactly. If Phil doesn't deliver a banger on PS5 next year he is probably out. They won't accept a YoY decrease in the first year post ABK.

This really limits him because he doesn't really have many bangers in the first place. So he'll have to do it by committee, i.e. multiple games.

The hardware gig is up.
Phil Spencer clearly has plot armor. He can do whatever he wants.

Sorry to ask.

But where MS shares the revenue of Content & Services?

Some info about Activision Blizzard.

  • More Pwersonal Computing's revenue grew 17% with Activision Blizzard (+$1.69b)
  • It is around 25% less compared with Activision Blizzard before acquisition (it was around ~$2.3b per quarter)
  • Actvision Blizzard alone generated $440m loss this quarter to Microsoft.

It will be interesting to see where the Activision go with Blops 6 being day one on Gamepass 🤔

Lol so when Microsoft’s console hardware business dies you want Sony to follow suit. That's not happening buddy. Sony sells easily every generation 100m+ consoles. There is no way they would abandon that. Plus Sony doesn't possess the necessary infrastructure for Cloud. It just going to be PlayStation and Nintendo. Xbox will continue to exist as 3rd Party publisher. Plus Sony is literally the company who invented storage mediums like DVD and Blu-ray. Sony sells a high chunk through physical media. Sony has trademarked PlayStation consoles until PS10 and beyond btw. It's just wishful thinking seeing Xbox now dying as a hardware platform and wanting Sony to adapt Microsoft’s decisions too.

I never said that either would actually die but tech moves forward and just like next generation will be all digital leaving physical behind once and for all, eventually gaming will simply be all streaming. Neither will actually die. You'll just play games via their app on your TV with a controller and that's it. There will still be PlayStation and Xbox just without the actual console/box but like I said, this is at least 15+ years away.

Peak delusion on Resetera right now. Xbots calling the numbers good. Welfare claiming Xbox will hit 40 mil at the end of next year and that USA is only 50% of Xbox sales 🤣🤣🤣

Someone pointing that based on Welfare's own inflated estimates, Xbox has only sold 500k in the USA this quarter, so a 1.3m estimate for the quarter means 800k are coming from elsewhere. This is in the face of heavily declining sales, Xbox stopping hardware shipments to major markets like the Middle East, and the specious reasoning that retailers are ramping up for the holiday quarter so it's largely shipments.

The entire thread is comedy gold with one of the first posts not understanding that ABK made up the entire 43% yoy increase and then trying to walk it back when he was trounced by the last vestiges of logic that place has left.

Peak delusion here too:

Xbox was not even in the top 100 on Amazon last I check. Call of Duty did nothing for them. They are just celebrating Activision being Activision, a publisher they always despised until a year ago.

Welfare saying Xbox will be at 40 millions sold by the end of next year is the biggest delusion I have ever seen in my life. It's down 30+% every quarter and selling like 28k in all of Europe. Where are they going to sell all these millions? Down on NPD, Europe and UK every month and every quarter but selling millions 🤡

Xbox has totally collapsed outside of the US, to the point of pulling out of regions.

Ratios of console sales between xbox and playstation we have only seen in Japan are seen in other territories. Such as European Union.

US is like 56-58% of worldwide sales...
He knows that but even so keep denying.

Plus I'm not sure if Xbox will even cross 30m this year 🤷‍♂️
It is probably below 28 million right now.

4 year to sell 30 million and somehow it will sell 10 million in single year in 2025 :D :D :D

There was a image on hardware revenue by Welfare and you could see that before xbox series it was completely collapsed, until covid era gave the sales a huge boost. But that is over now.

Even Jez Cordon source told him they reached everyone they could reach in some territories.

Welfare has a sales forum and he's the biggest source/cheerleader for Xbox numbers. They keep parroting his fake numbers in the Xbot OT so he must keep up the charade.

They need to sell 10 millions in 1 year in two markets (US/UK) to reach his crazy target. Not even Phil is that delusional.

I also see this as a possibility, but always get dunked on for sharing the opinion.

That's because a lot of PlayStation/Xbox fanboys are delusional and believe that their little box will exist forever when in reality, just like how Microsoft and Sony want to eliminate physical, they both want to eliminate digital as well. Just a matter of time until both Microsoft and Sony are nothing more than an app on your TV and you simply stream all your games through their respective app.
