Obsidian's next big RPG Avowed is looking to Vermintide's 'masterclass in having a sense of hitting and impact' to make its first-person sword-swinging feel weighty
FPS: First Person Swordster.

Yep, this is going to be terrible. Losing the studios core strength of RPG design to regress to Far Cry tier RPG-lite absolutely sucks.Obsidian's Avowed is going 'classless', ditching Pillars of Eternity's crunchy stat-heavy builds in favour of Skyrim-like ability trees
I suppose classlessness is the logical next step for a studio so keen on historical materialism.www.pcgamer.com
Is there anything Bethesda's negative influence can't taint?I suspect quite a few people will be sad to see them go, but it's probably the right choice for a first-person RPG that's aiming to be as accessible as your standard modern Bethesda fare.
Yeah and games within tht range can definitely surprise.Overall it looks like it could be pretty fun, but "janky" fun. You know the kind. The type of game you can feel is made on a tight budget, and at times may be too ambitious for what it's doing. The kind where there'll be plenty of wonky hit detection, graphical glitches, awkward NPC routines, jarring transitions, cheap-feeling font on certain menus, etc.
If you're not in the headspace to accept those types of limitations, the game will just be terrible for you. But if you're used to playing janky budget mid-tier games, Avowed's limitations may be tolerable and you can have fun with the game a good bit in spite of those. If I had to go by MC, and going by the "classic" grading system from K-12 of years past, it looks like it'll be a solid 77 - 80 type of game.
"You really don't need to know anything about the previous Pillars games, and you certainly don't need to have played them to enjoy Avowed," says Patel. "For players who have, they're certainly some familiar concepts, bits of world-building, and even a few returning characters that they might recognize, but we wanted to make sure that players coming to it for the first time will have a good time."

So you can mix and match the guns, wands, and shields however you wantwww.gamesradar.com
The state of play vr game has better melee combat than this
Yeah the controls look super responsive and the movement to block and deflect is pretty fluid. But Avowed looks so stiff like 7th gen Skyrim animationsJust wanted to say the same. Combat is just awesome. You are defend yourself in a position where enemy want to hits you. A a lot of environment interactivity too
It just looks so last gen to me idk. Maybe it will be great!Yeah the controls look super responsive and the movement to block and deflect is pretty fluid. But Avowed looks so stiff like 7th gen Skyrim animations
