A sub service like Gamepass cannot fund the development of GOW Ragnarok-tier games.
Luckily for Sony, we buy enough copies to cover that development cost several times over... easily.
Don't even need to release on PC.
I've seen a few people who think Game Pass is a magical answer to any problem. I'm so glad that, over time, that model and its proponents have proven to be out of touch with what the majority of gamers want. It's been remarkable to see how much MS has fallen behind in sales of hardware and software to Sony and Nintendo over the last few years. It shows that a cheap sub service is not what most people are looking for and I hope that trend continues.
Sony has Extra... so that point is moot. Some xbots still believe sony doesn't offer the same as xbox.
And yet you have indie devs like the dolphin game guy who are pissed at Sony for not adopting such an unsustainable model. Very strange times. /s

There's a conspiracy going around that Sony literally forbade Square employees from putting games on Xbox.

So far, there's just been the usual people taking what seems to be an article out of context.
It's pretty telling how these guys refuse to post the article they got it from because they know how flimsy the source is. No surprise folks like Foss patents are weighing in as well saying that Sony should get in trouble for these deals because they're the market leader, all because MS complained about Sony's deals in one of their cma responses.
I recall hearing something about that guy. Was it that he said the PS5 couldn't run his game? He doesn't strike me as someone whose opinion should be taken seriously. Plus, there's lots of people who think Sony should join MS in their race to the bottom, but as someone who loves games - I'm glad Sony doesn't and neither do the majority of gamers.
One would think that taking sides as a dev is a dumb move from a career perspective if you ever wanted to keep your options open.
