Because if that was true AMD Desktop market share should not be ~20%.

I can see some extreme cases with AMD having 50-60% of the DIY like Korea… but overall it should not be that high.

For example in Japan the DIY CPU market in 2022 was 74% Intel / 25% AMD.
It's certainly true, and like I said there's a lot of institutional inertia due to large scale contracts that are signed sometimes for years at a time. You only have to look back to 2018 when Intel had 99%+ of the market to realize that the tides are turning, and very quickly.

It doesn’t make any sense at with the data we have… you don’t show any source for that claim and says it is true.

I took a lot of time to research and only found a single source for Korea where AMD reached 50.75% of DIY market at end of 2023 (very recent).

It was like a big news in tech forums because it was the first time AMD surpassed Intel in DIY market.

So data doesn’t support these numbers you guys keep saying.

This Japanese analysis talks about 50/50 market share in DIY in 2022.

I suspect some odd shit a la pentium 4 vs Athlon days. Can't believe AMD GPU share on steam is so low. They aren't bad GPUs at all if priced lower than Nvidia.

If you look at any of the online storefronts that show sales data, all of them are 70%+ AMD sales. Newegg, amazon, places like mindfactory thaf release weekly sales data

AMD has been ruling DIYs for years. Intel's marketshare has only been kept by all the inertia that exists in B2B deals.

I think this will only change drastically when some of the "nobody ever got fired for choosing IBM Intel" crowd get fired for choosing Intel. It will happen and probably already has in a place or two, but it takes time.

I won't in the discussion if that is evidence or not (it is not because it lacks most of stores that build PC to consumers that are not OEM) so let's take your first example:

We have...

TOP10
AMD: 3
Intel: 7

And if you look at the TOP20 except for the AMD 1# most Intel are higher than AMD.

  1. AMD
  2. Intel
  3. AMD
  4. Intel
  5. Intel
  6. Intel
  7. Intel
  8. AMD
  9. Intel
  10. Intel
  11. Intel
  12. AMD
  13. Intel
  14. AMD
  15. AMD
  16. Intel
  17. AMD
  18. AMD
  19. AMD
  20. AMD
If you look at TOP100 you have pages with only 2 AMD and everything else Intel.

I really can't understand how you guys take that as AMD dominates DIY.
All evidences looks at 50/50 with some places with Intel ahead and others AMD.

Most of the top intel cpu have double digit review counts and the amd cpus have 10 or 20x the reviews. The 7800x3d is by far the most popular cpu right now.

Review is optional... most buyer never review a product.

Can you please show me some proof? Sales data? Marketing research? I showed two for you (Korea that reached 50/50 this year and was considered a big win by AMD community... and Japan where Intel still dominates).

Like I said there is no way DIY CPU market is 80% to AMD... that doesn't make sense with the data we have.
With 80% DIY AMD should have a market share in Desktop way over 30%... perhaps even 50%.

Can you show me something that says intel buyers are less likely to review cpu than amd buyers?

Most buyers don't review anything... no matter the brand.

Edit - AMD processors with high review count have the same reviews shared across them.

Ryzen 9 5900X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-5900x/p/N82E16819113664
Ryzen 5 5600X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-5600x/p/N82E16819113666

Same reviews.
7600X and 7900X have the same reviews too... mostly like AMD reviews are about product line and not specific product.
Plus the older the CPU more reviews to that product line.

What is wrong?

They have the same reviews lol

Ryzen 9 5950X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-5950x/p/N82E16819113663
Ryzen 9 5900X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-5900x/p/N82E16819113664
Ryzen 5 5600X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-5600x/p/N82E16819113666
Ryzen 5 5800X: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-5800x/p/N82E16819113665

Read the review page.

Edit - I understood it... whatever you group processors they have the same reviews.... that is why the high number in AMD ones because they grouped with more than one CPU.

Intel has grouped CPUs too.

I found one AMD not grouped.

This Ryzen 5 7600 is not grouped with another CPU.
Released in January 2023.
71 reviews

This Intel i7-12700K is not grouped with another CPU.
Released in November 2021.
478 reviews.

Another Intel i7-12700KF not grouped.
Release date November 2021.
133 reviews.

Intel probably has more reviews because it is a older product.
BTW reviews tells nothing... most buyers don't review products.

PS. Seems like the same product can be grouped or not... maybe it is due the supplier... but the biggest AMD reviews numbers are all grouped.

I wanted to buy an Amd Gpu, but when I looked at the prices. Which are slightly smaller than those from Nvidia. And how much less they can do. Unfortunately I had to buy Nvidia.
