The platform that generates the sales pays for it. The platform that needs its owner to pay up front for its subscription service subscribers, pays a fixed sum. The platform that waits endlessly port begging, will pirate it or wait for a sale (for the most part).
Sega makes the bag anyway it's spun. Consumers of the paying platform will eventually get a clue someday.... the industry will be a shithole by then too, unrecognizable to what it's today and it's well on its way if anyone hasn't noticed yet. Mission accomplished by some industry actors per say - the corrupting nature of poison works - which is ultimately the goal and point.
Sega doesn't owe you loyalty, you're not an unionized gamer where you can voice your displeasure as a collective force to which Sega must heed respect or else..... thus you're a powerless working ant. Only thing you can do is not buy their product and advocate for others not to do so nor hype them. Considering the niche nature of the title, it's really not hard to do but then the impulse will obviously override common sense.
It's what it's. Could care less about Persona for obvious reasons but clearly it's a touchy subject for some. Crying "Sony what are you doing? Look at mean Sega!" is pathetic. Daddy Sony won't do shit, although they could but this leadership won't entertain what's required to put a dent on these things. That is obviouysly, throwing their massive dick around with no care in the world as the market leader - aka strict release clauses. This would undoubtedly bring both competitor, publisher, dev and media plant heat their way aka "Evil Sony" - cause obviously they'll get fucked and are looking at their own best interest (eating the cake and having it as well) - The obvious question to the ironic and hypocritical pushback is why shouldn't Sony look out for the best interests of its customer base as well? Interesting thought process. Sony will continue to play the game of buying third party exclusivity deals at a cheaper price than Xbox on big titles and call it a day. While this is obviously not the optimal route, it hurts Xbox more, look no further than Final Fantasy XVI.
