i’m so tired at this point i won’t even respond anymore…

Spoiler Alert: Sony won’t purchase shit after all these failed acquisitions and billions of dollars burned in GAAs games

How many single player studios have shutdown? What billions have been burned?

Spoiler Alert 2: Firewalk and Haven will end up shut down because of sinking financials from their failed games

Firesprite is going to end up shutting down. Media Molecule and Bend are probably going to end up shutting down.

Sony has shut down SEVERAL studios in the past, that doesn't stop them from buying new studios.
Spoiler Alert 3: Xbox has now a chance on the market again because they have a box that actually entices PC players to go for since they have all their library on Steam avaliable on an Xbox, including tentpole PS titles

What box is this?
Spoiler Alert 4: Valve’s storefront will become bigger than PS store because they have a PC dominance and will have a substantial presence on consoles (Xbox), handhelds with Steam OS (Lenovo Legion Go, Steam Deck, Rog Ally) and Cloud (GeForce Now) being the biggest competitor to PlayStation in 3 key areas

The biggest PC games aren't on steam. Is this accurate or no?

PlayStation is going to have more dominance in the console market than valve in the PC market after Microsoft's exit. Geforce now has the best cloud tech, but Nvidia doesn't make its own content. That's always going to be a problem (hence the likelihood that nvidia buys a publisher that you'll ignore). In the meantime Sony will have exclusive content and players for cloud gaming.

Spoiler Alert 5: a PS Launcher would fail miserably because instead of putting the games there from the beggining and not put anything on Steam, Sony has put more than 10 tentpole titles on the storefront already and PC players, angelical as they are, will mass boycott sony’s launcher forcing them to go back to Steam.

One has nothing to do with the other. New PC gamers are playing PC games every day. Not everyone is evangelic (not angelical).

No boycott of GTA6 would work for example, just as no one is boycotting Minecraft, Roblox, or Fortnite, nor did anyone boycott CoD.

The most stupid thing is how Sony's PC ports doesn't have any protection. Their games are more popular on torrents than on Steam.

A lot of companies don't use DRM like Denuvo

  • It's expensive
  • They look at data on games with DRM and games without
    • spoiler, these people who pirate games aren't buying games anyways
  • Many of the people who will buy your game won't because of the DRM and the impact it has on performance
So you think its stupid as if Sony has never heard of Denuvo or DRM?

I love that people think that Sony doesn't have data on this stuff.

Sony is in a different position compared to other publishers. A lot of PCMR still sees them as an enemy. So it's more justified for them to pirate Sony's games instead of giving them money

PS is at its core of its business yet it wants to release its ten pole singleplayer exclusive to platforms that are directly competing w PS console this being PC in general but more directly Valve/Steam/Steamdeck.

PS console isn’t at its core of its business if it was it wouldn’t release more PC port & more PC games then actual PS consoles from first party. Unlike PS Nintendo & consoles to Nintendo console is at its core & seems other methods to grow & expand into new audiences such ass cross media, merchandise/toys, parks, mobile/GAAS etc.

This reads like a Phil Spencer quote. PS is dead Nintendo is doubling down after there success in the Switch & has everything w the Switch 2 & Switch 3 to absolutely slaughter & cut a massive chunk in market share globally. If that Switch 2 is more powerful then PS4 expect all 3rd party + exclusivity deals PS used to do to be completely gone by the tail end of Switch 2 & really gone when the Switch 3 releases.

PS doing all this diminishing & harm to its platform & storefront to just sell 5% on PC while bolstering PC & Valve position in gaming & splitting 30% to valve (who isn’t going anything) it’s like valve & Nintendo understand if it does no harm to its platform & just doubles down & let other competitors it can essentially make free money of 3rd party by solely existing & PS doing the hardest to destroy what they built.

It’s pretty clear if your a PS console fan start making that transition to PC, Steamdeck 2 & Nintendo Switch 2 because I don’t see a future of PS console existing when Switch 3 is out & will be at the power of PS5 completely closing the gap w PS consoles & Steamdeck 2-3 having also all PS games + the benefits of PC
watch out all the fanboys are going to come attack you for speaking the truth. I also saw the writing in the wall and switched primarily to PC gaming consoles are going the way of the VCR

Actually PC is overpriced. A PS5 gets higher performance per dollar than a PC.

A pro would cost half that if a 4070 rig, which is the most comparable and has numerous advantages.

If you like the office package though, PC is the way to go.

Look at this 4070 rig it’s a $100 more than a PS5 Pro but please tell me how a Pro would cost half the price of a 4070 rig

Instead of playing "what if"s, some minor changes for the status quo of someone who already went that way.

If you're a CEO of a company and you don't prepare your company for very possible if not probable changes to your industry, you're not doing your job.

That's the reality that you and other Sony doomers don't realize.

If/when you're wrong, there's no penalty for it. You just go on to the next post, likely wrong about that as well.

Sony has to live with it.

Blackberry stuck with the status quo and they got their shit handed to them by Apple and Google.

Blockbuster also stuck with the status quo and they also get their shit handed to them by Netflix.

Sony has stuck with the status quo for decades and has had it blow up in their faces time after time.

iPod, iPhone, Mac, VAIO, Marvel, TVs, Motion controls, Hybrid consoles...

Correct. Doing it the wrong way, by making decisions which will hurt you in the long term though, is equally bad if not worse.

Let's play your "what if" game:

Someone buys 3rd party publishers with the intention of foreclosure. Which platforms do you think will maintain relevance? The ones with exclusive content or the ones without?

That's the reality that you and other Sony doomers don't realize

If we are doomers, then you and your likes are either blinded by fanboyism (I mean, it's pretty dark when your head is stuck in an ass) and are therefore not different than Xbox fans who didn't get in which direction the wind was blowing, or are not fan at all and actually hope Sony fails to follow Xbox in the grave.

oye chat gpt think before you post examples, the apple products you listed are the prime examples of a closed ecosystem, apple doesn't go around selling software or hardware for windows or any other competitor.

Well, you wouldn't get those prices in Europe. I guess that's why it's 800 euro for the pro here...and 700 over in the US.

To offer the distinct value proposition, Sony should have aimed for 600.

But then you have people that will never buy a PC...

You don't even need to play - what if.
That's what actually happened with netflix, when Disney and other took out those great IPs out of it.

Usually, these deals very very limited stock, most of it is just Marketing, attract attention, nothing more.
It is impossible supply and sell 100 of thousands of these PC.
It is so disangenious.

Yeah well, we could have a "closer" example with Xbox, which tried to buy 3rd parties with the intent of foreclosure but because of Nintendo and Sony being successful with their "stagnant" strategies, they are now becoming 3rd party themselves.

I guess their revenue/profits will now be better than ever and their fans are making jumps of joy for being shat on.

This whole convo is rediculous.

PC's aren't hard to get running. Once you're into Windows its usually a Steam login and install game/play time.

No one largely pays attention to EGS/GOG etc. The noise comes later when a game actually does release on Steam.

And finally, with many pre-built little handheld pc's there's no building a pc, no exorbitant cost of building (what's an Ally? Approximately £400?), but they have also portability, fan mods/fixes, cheaper game prices, no online paywall, access to competing game stores on one device, and emulation ffs.

Sony NEED a PS PORTABLE with native game downloads to keep up with their competitors, and retain their marketshare.

Valve did mostly solve the integration and UI/UX problem on the Deck, though Microsoft is still to this day just burning possible income for each hour they don't release a TV/controller-friendly front-end for gaming in Win11.

No educated person, who’s into gaming as a whole, is choosing a handheld over a console. That’s a very specific person, or they’re Japanese.

I got a mini pc to act as a media server with my tv and just getting Windows updated with the correct drivers took hours. This lack of immediate functionality is what console buyers seek to avoid.
