Maybe it's hard to believe, but I just saw DG PC had its first 50% discount in April 2022, between March and August 2022. Until then it only had a few smallers discounts before.
But the "over 8 million" for console alone was said in January 2022 lol
I think guys are mistaking two points here.

The first Jeff Ross give you fake data.
The game was nowhere 8 million on consoles or 1 million on Steam at January 2022.

The second point is when you talked to me saying Sony said 9 million (that never happened) in August 2022.
That is very hard to believe.
In around 1 year the game sold 852k copies... you are trying to say it doubled that from April to August? Sorry to not believe it.

Death Stranding sold less than DriveClub... I love these leaks and I hate Sony leadership more than ever.

Sony knew they had Bloodborne in development while From Software was being sold for peanuts ($17M) after releasing Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and chose not to buy them and then Bloodborne sold 7m+ on a single platform...

The game has sold over 9 million though 😅
Yes, this is what the leaked numbers say. Over 8M then in January 2022.

And the most updated number we have now is:
For PS: 7.236K (Jan 2022)
For PC: 1.7M (Aug 2022)

As of August 2022, it had sold >9M copies if the PS version sold over 65K copies between Jan and Aug.

It also matches the "9M Days Gone units sold" Sony statement made in August 2022 when they announced the Days Gone movie, that I mentioned in my October 2022 post you quoted. Yes, I was right there.

I don’t believe this. Bloodborne sold extremely well. Back then Souls wasn’t as big as it’s now. But Sony isn’t doing anything with that franchise. Damn you Jimbo.

I actually did... The game went into PS+ twice hence the massive player spike
No, you still didn't. This data is from Feb 2022, and the game had close 5M copies on PS consoles only. This is from a year before:

"With Death Stranding being the first title developed out of Kojima Productions, from a sales perspective, it has performed quite well," he says. "As of March 2021, Death Stranding has sold through over five million units worldwide on PlayStation 4 and PC."

Keep coping if you think a new franchise selling 5M copies in a year in a bit is a flop, and keep lowballing its sales to prove a fictitious point. By Feb 2022 it had more than likely sold above 6M copies on PS4/PS5 and PC, and that's being conservative.

From Software should've used some Disney IP.

Death Stranding joined gamepass in August 2022. By November 2022 it had been played 10M times.

Are you seriously suggesting that the overwhelming majority of the other 5M we're missing are mostly from gamepass?

You're insane.

Don't forget this : https://www.eurogamer.net/death-stranding-free-on-epic-games-store

Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding is the latest free game available to claim via the Epic Game Store.

The open-world sci-fi delivery simulator, sorry, "Strand" game, typically costs £24, so this is a decent saving. Nab it for yourself via this Epic Game Store link, until 25th May at 4pm UK time.

Article was from the 18th of May, so that's 1 week where everyone could just claim the game for free. That would account for a large percentage of the remaining number.

That's from 2023, we're discussing early to mid 2022. Try again. Also, spoke too soon?

Yes, the game had sold over 8M in January 2022 according to the leaks (counting PC), when he said it. But not 1M+ on PC back then (as estimates said), it was more likely between 600k-700k instead if this leak is accurate.

The second point is when you talked to me saying Sony said 9 million (that never happened) in August 2022.
Sony announced Days Gone had sold 9M in August 2022 in the exclusive of the announcement of the DG movie:
https://deadline.com/2022/08/days-gone-sony-playstation-movie-outlander-sam-heughan-1235096286/

If the PS version sold over 65K units from Jan to August 2022 yes, DG had sold 9M as of August as I said in that post.

In around 1 year the game sold 852k copies... you are trying to say it doubled that from April to August? Sorry to not believe it.
I'm not the leaker who posted that image.

If the August 2022 is leak image real yes, it went from 852K to 1.7M from March to August 2022. In that period it had two -50% off discounts, first time it had discounts that big. Sounds too big, but it's what the numbers say.

As of today it has 71867 reviews, with the x 25 estimate is around 1.8M. So possibly the estimate is failing a bit now or its sales got stuck since then.

Something that sounds fishy considering it had eight 66% off disounts in the last year and a recent 75% off. But well, Sony being more aggresive with discounts for this game during this year would match with the port sales being stuck.

The game sold over 9M copies (around a year and a half ago), has been in PS+, has been in PC for 2 years and a half and with great discounts... I'd say whoever was interested on it already got it. Yep, maybe its sales got stuck.

Aaah, nvm. I thought for some reason you guys were talking about the updated 16M players figure from a few days ago, my mistake.
Np. Below is not towards you
_______

And talking about sales, by EOY2020 the game had sold around $27M. At $59.99, which is the worst case since there were discounts, it would have sold 450k copies. So that's 450k copies in around 6 months, which is nothing special, but does put in perspective that you have to be insane to think that a substantial portion of the remaining 5M sales was mostly sub services. In those 14 months, including the release of DC on PC, it has to have at least 1.5 to 2M in sales on computer, if not more.

Edit: Not to talk about how the best selling MGS game had, by 2022, sold 7M copies. Death Stranding is from the beginning more commercially successful than MGS, which is one of the most beloved games of all time.

Nowhere did I use the word flop, stop acting irrational and unhinged. The only reason I acknowledge your mess of a post was because you literally made up your own figures claiming the game sold over 10 million before going Into Game Pass.

Which you Still can't prove...

The Last of Us Remaster sold as much as Uncharted 4 almoust 20m.

Even as a big fan of TLoU Part 2, I have to admit the bold/controversial direction they took the series did cost them a lot of sales given that TLoU Part 2 won't ever sell nearly as much as the original TLoU.

Zelda TOTK made more money in 1.5 month than the best selling PlayStation game in the history. That's a wild stuff 😮😅.
Took that IP only 35 years.
