Yeah exactly this , you've got the totoki guy talking about growth then saying we 'predict' a drop in ps5 sales so the stock value goes down $10 billion & now they've done this
I thought it was known that for couple of years now. He was awful.
This seeming contradiction might be worth thinking about a little harder. Maybe calling PC competition isn't as deep as you think it is.

These business decisions are made months in advance, and just because one project succeeded it doesn't mean 12 projects would. A child would understand this, and I mean a child with microcephaly. It was clear as day that this would happen because live service games require entire studios to support them, they can't be little side-projects.
Just read what Naughty Dog said about the TLOU:O cancellation and then sit back and let the adults talk.

It's either they're laying off people attached to Horizon 3 or the Horizon MP game, there's no other option.
It's all a self fulfilling prophecy. Their vision for their console business sucks and it's time for PlayStation to be replaced.
Waiting them to turn their back on physical media before next gen, then they'll have made my decision for me.

The issue was to have too many focus in Live Service games.
They had like 4-5 big project live services that probably got cancelled.
The smaller one was probably the one to survive and give really good fruits (Helldrivers 2).
Nobody is against Live Services here.
We are against to make Live Services the focus of PlayStation because not all Live Services games reach success... it is too risk... so you have to have a strong backup with big franchises.
When you are strong with you lineup then you make one or two Live Services to try to be sucessul.
Hopefully whoever replaces Jim "bottle job" Bryan can do a better job. Doing a worse one would be really fucking hard.
Exactly. They should have had a couple or three external studios (or studios acquired for it, like they did) working on live service, while their main studios continued working on their specialty: Single player games.
But no, they decided Insomniac, ND, Bend, Guerrilla, Sucker Punch, etc, had to be working on that shit instead.
Most of the announced live service games are coming from newly acquired studios. If they cancel the project, why acquire the studio in the first place?
I said we dunno if their online game was scrapped and I simply didn't want a back and forth about it.

The problem is that it's clear that Totoki will be the guy deciding who is going to replace Jim Ryan. Sony leadership is sabotaging PlayStation again with their stupidity and lack of long term vision.

If that's the case, they will lose clientele. Hopefully he will look at what was working until 2019 and just say "cool, this is what we need to do".
