What a terrible news. I hope everyone finds a new job soon.

Management also needs to be accountable for this shit show. Are we sure the guy that took over isn’t an american CEO in disguise? He sounds and acts like one.

And people here want more acquisitions 🤡🤡
It would be much better if they were investing in PlayStation and showing they believe into their own platform that whatever is it they are accomplishing by firing 8% of their workforce and announcing close to no upcoming games for years.

Out of everyone it seems Sony is the one that doesn't seem to believe in PlayStation and that is going to inevitable poison the ecosystem and lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How would you guys feel if Sony reduced its first party to like 10 studios that make AAAA games and partnered/published with third parties for partnerships much more often? Kind of like they do now but with a smaller first party presence but more partnerships? I feel like thats the direction they want to go in.

In a way it would kind of hearken back to the PS1/2 days. Problem is theyd need to secure key third party with large investments and so far theyve been reluctant to do that.

That would work as lkng as quality is curated to a gd degree. Thyve done this before it's how we've gotten our Helldivers, Demon Souls was exclusive, etc..

How about just leave the studios be to do as they were doing during the PS3 and PS4 gen and trust them since they have only put out high quality games? The AAA gaming dev business is what it is, Sony can't magically wish to make it more profitable than it is.

For a long time SIE was not your typical publisher, their studios were more productive and made better games than the vast majority of publishers and devs. Sony executives just keep getting in the way.

Yeah they were given free reign and something has changed ppl keep saying thts bs and have other assumptions but I think it's management trying to micro manage more and giving this gaas bs direction tht is causing the issues.

Not only free reign but also support, support to go after new IPs, support to go for high production value, support to go for some unconventional games, etc.

It seems like their best decisions as far as their internal studios and partnerships go were made during the PS3 and early PS4 days.

There's nothing to re evaluate, you idiots already had the perfect recipe for success, and you flushed it all down the toilet to chase a few more pennies. Go back to what worked and fire all the idiots

Yeah in many interviews during ps3/4 era devs stated that Sony would give them the blank check (per se) to make their vision come to fruition.

These executives need to understand they don't know shit about making high quality and successful games and just support the part of the company that already saved PlayStation and the entire Sony company before.

But no, pivot to PC, mobile, GaaS, streaming, cut costs, burn bridges and let's see how that is going to work out.

Where is Ghost of Tsushima 2? Where is Last of Us 3? Where is Days Gone 2 or whatever? There's no causal link between Playstation investing in Haven, Bungie, Firewalk, and Playstation's elite single player teams dropping the ball on their projects. You should be happy there's a Plan B in the works at all. The Recipe for Success isn't delivering, unless you really like Spiderman.

Restructure: Fire people that are absolutely necessary (for the most part, there's the odd exception) while adding that workload on existing headcount without any salary increases.

But Increase pay for top level executives
