My PS5 needs rest, the next few months are gonna be crazy!
Right? At this point, all non-PS announcements fall flat. As if the industry is creatively bankrupt, and none can match the production value and quality of PS Studios titles. All these showcases this summer pretty much proved that nothign really can excite like a playstation studio game. Outside of playstations 3rd party showcase, what were the megatons dropped this summer? Cant think of any
Outside of capcom and square enix its pretty dry out there
Gotham Knights, a next-gen exclusive game from a renowned and experienced AAA publisher and developer, looks worse than PlayStation's last-gen games such as TLOU 2, God of War, Spider-Man, and Ghost of Tsushima.
True. That's why I mentioned in the OP, they will be able to seize an unassailable momentum because (1) PS Studios are just better than others, and (2) other devs and publishers have really dropped the ball. The gulf is just too big now.Sony have a chance with their next showcase to really light up the industry, its so fucking dry right now for big games and gaming news. Sony just needs to do their usual thing and its a wrap this holiday season. No one else even tried
I see your point, but at the end of the day, it is a next-gen exclusive game now and will be evaluated and criticized as such. While I agree that Gotham Knights doesn't look better than the games you list, it was a cross-gen game. Just because they cancelled the last generations versions a few months ago doesn't all of a sudden make it a current generation only game nor would it all of a sudden look like one.

And PlayStation always delivers, so I don't have any doubts that they will do it again if they hold the show. They just have to show up next month. That's it.
As I noted earlier, we don't know anything about 85% of the games PS Studios have been working on. That show can be full of surprises and jaw-droppers.

It is not like they chose not to release it on last-gen for no good reason (and leave all that money on the table). It's likely because last-gen consoles couldn't play it, which technically makes it a next-gen exclusive game, and that's what it is now.
Only problem is that it was developed with last generation in mind as opposed to the current generation. I'm not expecting many people to look at Gotham Knights as a current generation only title simply because it isn't. Gotham Knights was a cross-gen game for the entirety of it's development up until a few months ago which is why people shouldn't see it as such. If they do, they'll most likely be disappointed which to be honest, would be on those people.
The gap betweeen how it looks and how HFW looks is really insane. They look a complete generation apart. Gotham Knghts isnt only a last gen game its an early last gen game through and through
Yeah, @Remember_Spinal raised a good point. Even if we treat Gotham Knights as a purely cross-gen game (though it should be treated for what it is -- a next-gen exclusive game), even then it doesn't hold a candle to Miles Morales or Horizon Forbidden West.I agree with both parts. WB Games Montreal is nowhere near Guerrilla Games especially on a technical/visual level and yeah, it looks like a 2014/2015 open world game. Some say that it doesn't even look better than Arkham Knight.
MS themselves have acknowledged they lost the 'console war' ... If that's losing I don't think I'd want to see what winning looks like.
Couldn't agree more. Its bad when even indie games like Kena or Sifu come out and look better than something like saints row or Gotham knights. Even though they’re both highly stylized they have such tighter art direction thats jsut overall more interesting to look at with such good animation.
If you’re not gonna try to be graphically on par with your AAA peers at least go for something different looking. I always said they’d get big points if they just straight up made a Bruce timm style batman game like batman beyond or something.
Both PlayStation and Xbox are direct competitors. It is foolish to think that one's success does not and will not affect the other company. What does PlayStation winning do to Xbox? Does it put MS out of business? Does it remove Xbox from the market? Does it mean Activision and Bethesda and all the other Xbox game studios will no longer make games for the platform? If it doesn't, the 'win' is meaningless.
MS themselves have acknowledged they lost the 'console war' they then turned around and bought Bethesda and Activision and a bunch of other game studios, beefed up cloud gaming, and added tremendous value to their subscription service. If that's losing I don't think I'd want to see what winning looks like.
The Xbox customers are doing quite well. I'm looking forward to many of the future titles coming to the platform no matter what Sony does especially if they are providing me with a superior value. Xbox will remain my main preferred platform and I'll play the occasional title on PS5 from time to time. I think I won in that case and that's what matters to me.
Well, Xbox takes the time to release consoles, maybe, just maybe, they would like to sell as many as possible and if another company sells more of something that is in the same category that will cannibalize their own sales, it's not like 90% of people bought two or three consoles every generation. What does PlayStation winning do to Xbox? If it doesn't, the 'win' is meaningless.
This is all empty PR, we saw it when they started bragging about console sales numbers for having outsold this other company they are not running against (which is what they did the few quarters that the xbone held up to the ps4 in the US).MS themselves have acknowledged they lost the 'console war' they then turned around and bought Bethesda and Activision and a bunch of other game studios, beefed up cloud gaming, and added tremendous value to their subscription service.
