Devs really wouldn't have to do much to support native 1440p modes. And it would have been icing on the cake to support VRR in 1440p modes. This would be the absolute sweetspot for ps5 owners.

If a PC game can get an optimized setting based on performance or quality, while running on an unlimited amounts of different configurations, I'm sure it would takes literally no time to have middle ground between the two modes. It's not like each multitude of resolutions on PC require a different team to work on 1080p, 1440p, 4k, etc... Oh yeah and ultrawide, super ultrawide, ets resolutions. Imagine how many teams would have to work on each resolution. Not to mention, custom resolutions?!

Devs needs to make a new mode if they want 1440p native output on PS5.
There is no other way.

It is the same like they did to add the 40fps VRR mode to titles like Spider-man… needs patch… needs dev work.

PC doesn’t do modes optimizations… they rely on brute force to render whatever the user choose.

That is not how consoles works.

Star Ocean 4 on the PS4 Pro gave you resolution, texture, vsync, AA and other graphical options. Shit WAS AMAZING! Stop with the cap my dude, it's EXTREMELY possible. Consoles are propriety PCs at this lol

Because the dev coded it 🤷‍♂️

BTW the resolution the dev is rendering that you can choose in the menu is not the resolution mode the dev choose to output that is either 1080p or 4k… whatever is choose in menu is upscaled or downsampled by PS4 to one or these two.

Anyway all consoles games have options to choose different resolutions… that is why the dev coded to you have these options… it is the same for Star Ocean… the fact you can’t choose any resolution you want already shows it just a menu to choose the game modes just like others games.

Start Ocean had two modes in PS4 Pro: 1440p or 4k.
