VRR is feature that once it's not enabled you know the difference. To say it makes none and that it's some niche feature is just cope for the fact it took Sony nearly 2 years to implement it
aaaand it makes little to zero difference in most 30 and 60fps games

Let me guess you don't play Sony first-party games just games like Elden Ring?
Because since VRR was added the games I played had no difference at all but I did not play games like Elden Ring.

VRR does nothing to optimized games running at constant 60 framerate.
That is true before VRR and after VRR.

And to be fair in console space it is hard to have a game poor optimized like Elden Ring... when it is it become buzz and everybody talks about how shit the performance is.
I play all kinds of games, my entire gaming taste isn't JUST Sony 30 fps cinematic games. Expand your taste broheim. It's like those people who watch solely marvel movies lol

To you. When it's not enabled you can tell something's off, just because you feel like the benefits aren't worth it doesn't mean it isn't.
It only fells something is off if there are constant frame rate drops... that is not that common on consoles.
Elden Ring is an abomination in terms of performance on consoles... not the norm.

So your opinion for VRR is very weird.
Because most games have no difference with it on or off.
It syncs the display to the framerate, once you have it enabled for every game and it becomes the norm you can definitely tell when it isn't there. I want it enabled for every game, trust me, you'll notice the difference.

It's not a weird opinion, I just want the feature there. Why does it bother you all so much when users want something you don't like?

You want it and it is fine.
But it is not fine to say it really makes difference when it is turned on because it only makes difference for some titles... in fact most games on consoles have locked framerate that takes no use of VRR on or off.

To be fair if you disable VRR you can turn on other features you probably want in your locked framerate game.
And when you have a non-locked framerate game you turn VRR again.

It just I have to play a game that really needs VRR... the last big release was probably Elden Ring... you should play it with VRR.

I left here the same question John made to somebody like you trying to advocade VRR:

PS. I won't even enter the discussion that locked framerate is better than unlocked + VRR... the exception is when unlocked + VRR is running at way higher framerates than locked.

Of the games I play on ps5, it only really helps Eden Ring a lot.
On pc, it's a different story. I've been using gsync for years and years and it would be hard to live without

Lol @ this places relationship with Digital Foundr. Just remember, DF = Paid by Microsoft and are PC shills unless you need to use their expertiseTo strengthen your point when you can't. The same people dunking on these features are the same people who apparently thought that you couldn't see more than 30fps at one point in time.

It's a personal preference, one of which I'd rather have than not because I CAN tell the difference even if you personally don't. I can even see it in games where a locked 60 is a necessity like Street Fighter 5 or Dragon Ball Fighterz, there's an inherit smoothness that's added when your eyes get used to it.

If you don't want to use it, fine, that's on you. But it's funny that it appat makes no difference when rofif even has an OLED that uses VRR and gsync, if it didn't make a difference he could've gotten one of the cheaper OLED televisions without it.

I have an OLED with VRR and GSync... I even posted pics today lol
You buy expensive OLED for others reasons... not VRR.

You are just having placebo.
It really works in games that drops below 60fps target but there is no difference for locked 60fps games (it not even turn on OLED VRR TVs if you look at the screen VRR menu).

Do you know LG OLED have a menu screen with tells you if VRR is working or not? Get a locked 60fps game and just look at it if your TV will tell VRR is not getting triggered even when it is enabled because it doesn't work in locked framerate.

If it shows FIXED then the TV is not using VRR no matter what you feel... and it just change to VRR and show the actual framerate variation when it drops framerate.

I know why you buy an OLED, I was referring to rofif who says it doesn't make a difference yet he has an OLED with all of those said features.

If you don't believe so, that's fine. But no amount of telling me that just because *you* don't notice it is going to make me care, plain and simple. I like it because *I* can tell and notice it when I game on PC and just want that full range from 30 to 120-165hz on consoles, it doesn't hurt you.

Just like the entire last gen of people saying you can't tell the difference between 30 and 60, now this gen you all see the benefits and are now saying you can't tell past 60.

Don't bother responding, I'm done.

Wait.............the game lists aren't on the main home screen? They're only in the game library section? If so, then I guess this isn't folders. :(

Anyways cool and all, but give us 8k and native 120hz support Sony. I think that would be better. I need to play the touryst at 8k lol.

It is collections… not folders.
It can look similar but folders are at filesystem level and there is hierarchy… one folder can have more folders or games… but one folder or game can only be a child of a single folder.

Now collections works different… it works more like tags… a single game can have several collections or tags… so when you look at that collection you will find that game.

In terms of use collections are more useful than folder.
At the end folders and collections can look the same in UI… so it doesn’t matter if it is folder or collections.

I assume it's just for games right? Reason im asking is because on PS4, I had a folder for those Apps on the home screen that I would never use so they would just sit there in the folder and be completely out of sight and out of mind so I was hoping this would allow me to do the same.

Why would you need "folders" on the main screen?

That'd be annoying.. it shows you in order the apps / games you've launched... if there were folders how would that even work? Just extra clicks.

Yeah it's much more noticeable on PC where there is wider disaprity in frame rates.

It's not folders, but custom categories to filter the games.
Whenever you want to play a game that was pushed out of the home screen "most recent" list, you have to dig through the entire library. Grouping by user defined categories helps with that.

You guys are being odly semantic about "it's not folders."

But either way I'm saying they are cool.. welcome, etc. and my point was I understand they are only in the Library.. that's not what I was asking.

Just confused why anyone would want them on the "home" screen that shows your most recent launched items. Can't you set the PS5 UI to launch to Library if you want?
