Exactly in terms of real performance per TFs:

RDNA > RDNA 2 > RDNA 3.

RDNA have a 5% better performance at same TFLOPS than RDNA2 but RDNA2 can reach way higher clocks so it can reach way higher TFLOPS... something RDNA can't.
RDNA3 is a bit slower than RDNA2 but it can do Dual Issue for marketing purpose.

BTW that was why RDNA3 was a big disappointment.

So basically Sony and their engineers are idiots and us forum dwellers are the experts.

Come on now.

The leak clearly says there is a 45% improvement in performance not 300% if you go by the TF value.

Improved Memory bandwidth.

Plus 2 to 4x RT performance due to PSSR, AI and Machine learning.

What are we even arguing about?

The GPU is 3 X but hampered by other factors like the CPU.

We won’t be getting 3x performance even with the worlds most powerful CPU.

45% improvement with Improved Ray Tracing and resolutions using PSSR.

It will be less noticeable than the base PS4 vs the PS4 pro.

10.2 TF RDNA2 --> 16TF RDNA3/4 This upgrade is still huge in raw performance, and since it's console, the first part studios will eke out even more from the hw with low level access if they wanted to. I don't get this TF figures obsession, just look at PS5 and Series X game comparisons, PS5 beats Series X for most games.

RDNA3 can have improvements in others areas... IA, machine learning, Ray-tracking? Who knows... AMD was not good to demonstrate.
But performance in games it is what it is.

That is why the leak says it is like 45% improvement.... because RDNA3 is that... at double TFs delivery the same than RDNA2.
Because the double TFs is more a marketing (that nVidia is using too) than actually performance improvement.

They are saying 45 because of the CPU.

No not with! 45% is pure raw number increase in compute power. That's not including the RT improvements in CUs due to upgrade in uArch. Stop spreading wrong information.

A 45% in CPU performance clock by clock would be absolutely massive and it's not realistic at all. Same as the 3x performance increase based on TF.

So you are telling me that Nvidia somehow can't achieve that performance increase but AMD can even with the reduced thermal limits in s console, bandwidth limitations in APU form and all?

Some folks are going to be extremely disappointed if they aim that high. The way GPU HW imhas been improving at a snail's pace, You should be thankful there's a pro model at all.

Not watched it all yet, 3 and a bit minutes in and Richard is whinging abut the CPU and Alex has pulled a face that speaks volumes...

😅

I hope it picks up!

EDIT: 39 minutes in until they get to "the most interesting thing here that's going to offer the largest tangible benefit for anyone using this machine". Maybe they just wanted to build up the excitement after grumbling about the CPU for so long, lol.

Best comment in the whole thing was this, from Oliver on the Pro having 1.2GB more memory available to devs for their Pro versions of games over the ps5: "I think it shows that Sony is thinking through some of the problems that you would have if you just bumped up the power and computation of the machine without factoring in the memory subsystem.", suggesting they're adding a couple of gigs of slower DDR system memory to take over ram requirements of those system/background tasks - same sort of deal as ps4 Pro. "It is a well-considered increase. It certainly shows that they are thinking through some of these problems and trying to resolve them before they become an issue". Cerny af.

TF's alone it's over 3 X.
That's the reality.
If we factor RDNA 3 and 4(which you conviently left out) newer architecture/efficiency we get a even higher times.
Games will be limited by memory bandwidth even if there are architectural improvements
