I mean it covers all their bases in Anime, Media distribution, Gaming, and overall talent for IP creation. Whenever acquisition talk go around, I always mentioned how Sony Corp as a whole is unlikely to buy gaming publishers because that only benefits SIE. Kadokawa has made sense because while they ae large, they compliment every faucet of Sony's business.

Seeing the news that both parties have been humoring this for years, and the recent leaving of the founder, the place is primed for massive takeover, and Sony realizes what a golden opportunity this is for them.

like 90% sure this gets signed, most important part for me is FROM going to SIE. Imagine them with a SIE first party glow up.... and their next title will technically be their first current gen game, if Sony's hands are on it I think we'll see quite the jump for FROM.

They are not because most of the investors don't know the totality of the assets of a company, specially the ones in the works that still haven't been announced.

Yes they do for tangible assets.

Future IPs have speculative value and in my opinion should not be on balance sheets. How do you value say, a new JRPG concept that wasn't produced or sold yet?

Those that pay for thin air get what they get (Concord is an example of this, Sony paid for potential and said potential didn't pan out at all).

Bischoff’s deal fell thru because AOL Time Warner didn’t want to have nitro on their networks. No tv deal made it worthless. Vince also had negotiated first bid for wcw if ever on sale when he sued them for Scott Hall and Kevin Nash jumping over and kinda referencing their previous characters.

AOL Time Warner kinda merger kinda created the future we’re living in. Ted had passion… and we seen what cnn turned into since then.
