Yeah because it's actually profitable. But microsoft doesn't have a profitability problem, it has a content problem. If the ABK acquisition is about justifying microsoft gaming to shareholders, then fair enough...but it won't really justify xbox to console gamers.
The ABK deal isn't just for Xbox console gamers. It's first and foremost for King because Microsoft has been trying to get into mobile gaming for years and this is how they will achieve that. Second, having Blizzard will be huge as they already have a new IP in development and once they clear out all the remaining shit within, Blizzard has a chance to get back to what they once were and on the Activision side, Infinity Ward I believe has a new IP or something like that in development, there appears to be a new Spyro game in development, there's that Crash game coming and who knows what else. And that's all not including Call of Duty.
So content wise, ABK be the same as Ubisoft because they don't know what they're doing. They're trying to break into free to play market and they haven't even come close and I doubt that they ever will. They have AC Mirage later this year but everything else seems to be further out. All the main line AC games are years away, a new Ghost Recon is probably two years away and Splinter Cell remake is definitely a few years away. Massive's Avatar could be huge as could be their Star Wars game but I don't see Avatar releasing until 2024 and 2026 for Star Wars.
Overall, it's equal but Ubisoft doesn't have a clue. Free to play, mobile garbage while wasting years and years on Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Skull & Bones in addition to not having anything major since Far Cry 6 unless you count Sparks of Hope.
People always want Sony's games to sell so they reinvest into PlayStation and I agree with that but Microsoft's approach is different yet similar. They will get the money via King, Blizzard and other aspects of their gaming division which will make them put more money into their first party games due to the fact that they must be at least good in order to keep growing Game Pass. As for Ubisoft, they're my favorite publisher and developer but they've fallen off the last few years outside of Immortals and Division 2 which were both excellent. Valhalla, WD Legion and FC 6 were all disappointing for me. Hoping that Microsoft can get them down the line because while majority aren't happy with Microsoft acquiring publishers, they do have the capital on hand to take the time needed to fix up Ubisoft and if I had to choose between Microsoft acquiring Ubisoft or Ubisoft going bankrupt or scaling down dramatically, then obviously im going with Microsoft.
Hopefully, Ubisoft is having their EA moment from a few years ago and can get back on track but I wouldn't be shocked if they don't.
